I am an Osprey guy. I have the Osprey Atmos 65, the Stratos 50 & the Exos 38. But my favorite Osprey packs are the Talon series. I have the 44, 33 & 22. Since going lighter with most of my equipment, the Talons are my go to packs. I use the 22 when biking. The 33 when I am going on short hikes, and the 44 when I am going on longer hikes. I just like the way they fit and hug my back while still letting air flow. Even tho the Talon packs are light, they are fully featured & comfortable. I like that the water bladder pocket is on the outside and not IN the pack like many other models. Makes it easier to refill without having to take items out of the pack. If the Talon 55 was available here in the US, I’d get it too. But it’s only available overseas.

YES! I love everything in the Talon series. I also really want to try the Talon Pro series, but I can't justify more packs of the same size that are so similar to what I already have. I didn't even know they had a Talon 55 overseas! that would be awesome! I've used my Talon 44 for a few backpacking trips as well, and had too look for a long time to find another pack that had an internal frame and was as light as the Talon 44 (and all those options are twice as much!). Glad I'm not the only major Talon fan! Thanks so much for watching!

That's a great size!! If I only needed another pack. Lol. I like your humor my friend. 🤣🤣

Nice to know there is one person on the planet that appreciates the humor! 🤣 yes, it’s an awesome size. Planning to use it for some hammock trips later this summer! Thanks for always watching, man! Also, I’m pretty sure you always ‘need’ another pack. Let’s be honest! 😂🎒🎒🎒🎒🎒

Found your channel when researching a new pack. Some great stuff here. Looks like you haven't posted any new videos in a year when it looks like you got sick. Hope you are doing ok. I have a Talon 22 and a Stratos 44. I was considering the Talon 33 and the Stratos 36. I went with the Stratos 36. Hoping it works good.

I want to see a video on the process for the almighty guarantee. I have an osprey commuter bike bag that serves as my computer bag (has a padded laptop pouch) but the zipper broke. I want to get it fixed but want to know what kind of hell on earth that might be. (I.e. how long will I be without my pack, shipping, etc.) Also are you going to review the external frame Kelty pack hanging behind you?
@DoseofDirt3 жыл бұрын
Definitely planning on making a video about it! I always tout the all night guarantee, but I’ve never actually had to use it. Planning to ship the Talon 44 off today (though I was hoping to use it for an overnighter next week… 😖). Really hoping it doesn’t into a wild food chase because I love Osprey! I should review the old Kelty! 😂 my parents bought that for me when I was in scouts two decades ago! It’s the pack I have the most experience with, so a review is in order! 😂 Thanks for watching and always taking the time to leave a thoughtful comment. Truly appreciated!

I use this bag for 3 night hammock hikes and it's perfect size for that. Only minus are too tight side pockets. You can't fit two bottles without losing space of the main compartment, it will be looking like a shape of violin
@DoseofDirt3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, Misha! It seems like the perfect size for hammock overnighters! I have noticed the ‘violin effect’ that you described on a few osprey packs. Thanks so much for watching!

How does this compare to the Osprey 38/48 Exos?.

Iv got the Talon 44, the hip pockets are the only thing that let's it down, they could be just a little bit bigger. Other than that, it's a primo pack!!

That is an awesome pack. Good that you got it used, and they back up their stuff even if you weren't the original owner. Can't argue with the quality or the versatility. The $180 price tag is a bit killer if you can't get one used though, holy cow.😳 It's about on par with something one could pick up an an EMS or LL Bean, but then those are also known around here as places one goes to get gear when they want to spend way too much money 🤑 on it. I'd still take the Osprey over anything they're selling. You're getting more than a posh logo for your money here. 👍

Haha! Ya, the full price is STEEP! I’ve leaned to either buy used or wait for it to go on sale with osprey (say this one on their website for about $120 I think, which is still a lot, but I’ve seen them used for under $100). Believe it or not I have paid full price for any of my osprey packs! I’m just too darn cheap! 🤣 But I check the local classifies online a few times a week and have found some killer deals! Thanks for watching, JR!

Great video! I use the Talon 6 as my day pack and love it! I wanted a super lightweight option that didn't get my back all sweaty. Osprey has some diehard fans out there and they make great quality packs. I'm glad you kept the failure in the video and kept it real. Curious to see about their guarantee and if they fix it for ya. Greta outtakes! 😂 I like your background as well! Take care!

Thanks man! I love everything in the Osprey Talon line! I’ve thought about the 6 but usually need to carry a little more gear and water with the dogs. Ya, I didn’t want to slander Osprey by including it in the video, but the fact is it broke. Hopefully they come through on the all mighty guarantee! Always plenty of outtakes in my recording sessions! 🤣 why is talking to a camera so hard sometimes?? 🤣🤷🏻♂️ Thanks so much for watching!

I have just purchased this model. Dont buy the model on sale in 2023. It is so much heavier at 3.18 lb, not the 2 lb 2 oz that this review says. There are great reviews based on old models that used to weigh only 1100 grams. Today the pack they sell with the same model name is 30% heavier, not the same pack at all. And nobody says it out loud on the whole internet.

@@DoseofDirt Didn't have the time yet unfortunately but next week i will try it in Mallorca and then Marseille and Mountain Olympus (Greece). Seems decent though and tough, which is what i was looking for. Perfect for day pack or hut to hut or an overnight in the summer
@DoseofDirt3 жыл бұрын
After wearing them both, I don’t think so. I think the frame helps hold heavier loads. Honestly I’ll be grabbing my Talon 33 for day hikes. It’s just so small and so light (less than 2 lbs I think!) and has almost all the same features of the 44. Once I get my hammock and a lighter sleeping bag I’m going to see if I can fit my overnight gear into the 33.
