honestly I do think the 2008-2009 graphics are almost as iconic if not more than 2007's look and I'm surprised they haven't at least tried to reimplement the option to choose one or the other just like back in the day

The 2008 graphic style is my favorite. I even use the ui design option on runelite. I mostly played runescape from 05-10

These HD graphics in 2008 were the best. It would bring so many players back. I'm certain there would be 200k concurrent players after this update. It's just the update that the game needs to attract new players.

I remember when this update came out, me and my brother hated it. Our characters and gear looked really bad. The character itself looked chubby, our beloved firecape looked like a pizza cape, the whip looked like a chain of sausages and the character overall looked like plasticine. My brother almost cried. Although they did an update to fix some of these, it was never the same since then. The best thing about it were the fires.

I really miss these graphics for OSRS and would love it if they get updated with these graphics. I'd be hesitant to go beyond these graphics though due to the abandoned aesthetic vision in RS3. The reason I prefer these graphics over current RS3 graphics is that they stay loyal to the aesthetic and artistic vision of Runescape. Although filled with magic, demons, and monsters, Runescape has very much a medieval aesthetic rather than the kind of high fantasy you see from other MMOs. That's not a bad thing or a good thing. It just gave Runescape a uniquely defined look. I'd describe it as a Camelot-esque aesthetic with monsters and magic but still fundamentally medieval. RS3 has an artistic vision that's a bit all over the place. Although certainly not bad, it deviates far too much from that original feel of the game. However I will note that there were earlier iterations pre EoC and early after EoC that stayed true to the medieval aesthetic.

If this doesn't make it to the public safely to use i'd be super bummed! i think this would help the player base so much and advertising! imagine seeing these graphics and movements in an add instead of blocky characters and "old school" graphics.
