They don’t understand the pain that u have everyday. Walking, standing, OMG going up stairs is a bad mess. People who have not walked these shoes don’t know how we feel. Sleepless nights and pain all days, it is bad. And the disability judge should understand when ruling on your claim for disability, we know how we feel. Knees all swollen and get stiff on u and u barely can move, it is a real live mess. God bless us all who is going through this horrible thing.

Osteoarthritis and the impact of flexibility of joint also affects work accuracy and speed (even regardless of pain level) - it would be helpful if workplaces were vocal with that assertion! For example, with finger osteoarthritis, the accuracy of keyboarding, and the amount of time it takes to correct mistakes constantly in a fast paced environment inconveniences everyone AND cause even more pain to the patient. An employer may be appropriately required to accommodate that worker, which, of course, makes sense for people who want to keep their jobs, but now the employer has to hire another person to get the rest of the work done or just deal with reduced output, when patient’s disability claims are denied. That doesn’t seem fair to anyone!

It does not have anything to do with them understanding the pain or difficulty that people truly experience with arthritises or any other serious illness. The disability claiming process has everything to do with resisting payouts and holding on to money that's rightfully a citizen's to draw on in the time of life altering health conditions. It's simply a design that slows down the passing of sand through the pinched part of the hourglass ⏳; and they hope you'll give up on staking your claim or they count on you not living long if you are awarded disability. They train SS employees to find ways to deter the help you need and have put in for. Makes you wonder what other financial mischief our government is up to while they pick reasons not to give it to those who clearly are in need. 🤔 They really need to have disabled persons on the determining board that can help balance the decision making since they wanna act like they can't understand. Its not just the pain alone either but its also the missed opportunity to even be considered for a job. Alot of jobs won't or can't accommodate in ways that are affective to do the required work for a shortened amount if time that a person may be able to do at their own pace, nor will it be lucrative enough at short hours for an ill individual to gave sufficient financial gain. Its just not right.

I already had osteoarthritis in my right knee, I now have it in my ankle due to being hit by a truck, and 2 screws in ankle. I have a deformity of the distal fibular diaphysis. This is painful. People just don't understand.

I am 44 and have osteoarthritis in my spine. It is painful and I recently had to quit my job being a barber for 27 years! I am terrified of what’s to come. I barely leave my house because I am always in pain and am very depressed! daily chores are excruciating sometimes.. would it be worth me filing for a disability claim? I need help I don’t know what to do!

Fawn, do you have a group or individual disability policy? If so, you should certain file a claim. If you do not, you may be eligible for state disability benefits or Federal Social Security Disability benefits. I suggest you contact our office and speak with one of the attorneys to address your specific questions regarding your situation.

right the ones judging the pain are the ones who want everyone to be zombies on drugs for the rest of their life while the ones who actually did a physiclal labor are hurting while the office dwellers only hurt when get a paper cut

Even though I am myself and one of those office type workers (although suffering from osteoarthritis, radiculopathy, stenosis, etc) . I fully agree with you! The more things I watch and listen to, it shocks me how many people who’ve had very physically demanding jobs are still denied disability even though their bodies are a lot more beaten up, by all the physical demands, but also by working in the elements as well! and for people in construction, and that sort of thing, taking drugs, that interfere with their mental and physical functioning is downright DANGEROUS… it’s so unfair to you all.

So I have arthritis in both low back and my sacrum joint which is the tailbone area. So I can't sit and stand, and bend for long periods of time and I have a hard time putting my socks on. It's constant dull pain and stiffness. I don't see it possible to substain a job unless I become very selective which is a very chance getting a job in my condition.

Johnny: Great question, the easiest thing to do is to take any calendar and each day write how you feel in the morning, afternoon and evening. You should document the different levels based on low, medium or high. You should also document some activities that you found hard to do during the day. Also document how long you slept without interruption and if you woke up due to pain.
