Osteosarcoma | Jaliyah's Story

At age 9, Jaliyah was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma. After swelling from an ankle sprain did not subside, a visit to Jaliyah’s primary care physician revealed that Jaliyah’s ankle pain was caused by a tumor. When local specialists recommended amputation, Jaliyah’s mother Joyce searched for second opinion to save her daughter’s leg.
Joyce found Dr. Carol Morris, chief of Orthopaedic Oncology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, who offered an alternative to amputation. I’m 21 years old and Found out I had osteosarcoma last September. Just had knee and femur replacement surgery also a removal of the tumor. My recovery to getting movement back in my leg has been sooooo hard and there are days where I really just want to give up. But hearing story’s like yours always helps put me in a better more motivating mood. It’s amazingly awesome how strong you are. I just want to say thank you for sharing your story! ❤️❤️❤️

Great story ...I have ostio sarcoma in my leg doctors removed the tumor with marking but thy said I need 6 cycles of chemotherapy ..I really scary with the side effects of chemo..is anyone tell me..chemo is necessary in this type of case or not??

Joslynnr Jan 12 I Had My Right Leg Amputated. I Just Got Discharged Feb 15. I Had An Infection That Had To Clear Up Before I Could Be Release For Physical Therapy And I Had To Have Physical Therapy For 2 Weeks. Now I Home Trying To Adjust To Life With One Leg. I Am Currently Cancer Free.😁

I have told my lovely mother that I would NEVER forgive her, if she was to force me into amputation/ chemotherapy. NEVER!!! I could never cope with the horrors of life after amputation. My lovely mother agreed that she would never force me into cancer treatment, after watching TF movie. Please see my other comments. What a brave girl 💪 my granddaughter is currently going through chemo following surgery. Was found on her left knee. Leg was saved but replaced with a knee implant. Unfortunately some small cancer cells were found in her left lung. All we can do is pray 🙏 and hope for the best. She's only 12 years old. She has 1 more surgery to see what can be done in her lung. She has been an inspiration to all of us with her bravery and courage. All us adults have learned what real courage is 💪. Very inspirational story. I'm so glad this video was on my feeds! My daughter had a similar procedure at Sloan Kettering in NYC. There is no reason to jump into an amputation without checking with John's Hopkins or Sloan Kettering first.
