I had my ileostomy surgery a month ago after giving birth to my first baby. During birth, the dr had to cut me so deep (level 4 laceration) to get the baby out after everything else failed. As a result of this, I had four failed repair attempts. My skin kept separating from the stitches and ripping open. The surgeon decided to reopen the wound (basically I have a vaganus) to let the tissue heal before attempting another repair. The only way for this to be possible was to eliminate the lower bowel and do an ileostomy. I have also suffered from PTSD and postpartum during all of this. I was drugged in the hospital for the first month of my sons life. It has been really really hard on me. Your videos make is easier for me to deal with my ostomy. Thank you so much!!!

I will say you are awesome. I used to have the problem with blowouts. Now that I use the blow dryer to get a good seal. I don't have that problem anymore. And since the filters on the bags usually last 2 days. I keep them sealed. And bleed the gas off when I am in the bathroom. Some I seal off on the inside as well as the outside. Then just open the end and bleed them off.

Thank- you so much for your info from the beginning to now! I've just made the decision with my Dr. to have the total colectomy with an ostomy. I'm 57 yrs. old and had an eating disorder since I was 15. My diet has never been good and for me for years laxatives have been my best friend! I have completely destroyed my colon and motility there. this surgery is my last option. I am using your tips and hashtag problems to get my mind around eating for health etc... Anyway thank you for your wonderful attitude and tips!

Hi Laura! I really enjoyed this video, and think this channel is great!! I'm a university product design student from Loughborough, England. I don't have an ostomy myself, but I am current undertaking a project looking to improving the user experience with ostomy products, and #ostomyproblems. I am just wondering whether I could use information form your video's in my research? and also if you have any other occurring issues from ostomy products? I really want to help.

I'm 23 and know how you feel about having what I like to call junk-front. I don't even get embarrassed about pooping myself anymore and make way too many jokes about it. Diapers and wipes are part of my life and makes me feel better, surprisingly. I let all my teachers know at the beginning of the semester that I have UC and some of the complications that may occur before or during class. #Inmytwentieswithdiapers

I'm a guy but I still find it awkward to empty in a public restroom. I get into some pretty weird positions when I'm trying to get everything out the bag. #OstomyProblems

Hi Laura. I'm Jenna. I am getting my surgery in a week for an illiostomy. My question is- do you know any police officers that have an ostomy? I'm very concerned about not being able to wear my utility belt and/or my bullet proof vest.

Will you be getting your ostomy reversed? I have UC and will eventually have an ostomy.
