Here’s how I think we could rework the different categories of maps: 1. The addition of a fun category: this would be composed of maps that the players enjoy playing, regardless of its quality. 2. The loved section should be exclusive to mappers (or people who know what they’re talking about) when it comes to voting: this would allow to regroup high quality maps in one category. People who want to be voters for loved should pass a test to ensure they know at least the basics of mapping theory. 3. Ranked maps should be composed of maps that comply to the ranking criteria, regardless of their quality. 4. All completed maps that aren’t pending should be either in the graveyard or in at least one of the previously mentioned categories. Also, a map could be in more than one of these categories. I think this would allow to have an environment that encourages innovation a bit more when it comes to mapping.

There isn’t going to be any forward momentum in mapping in all gamemodes until the ranking criteria is made less strict to allow mappers to have more creative freedom. BNs should also be aware that mappers have their own style and they should be judging maps off of that, not if it suits their personal tastes. That’s also a huge problem facing mappers today and is making the ranking process have a huge barrier to entry if your style doesn’t suit the tastes of those nominating.

About the rank section: As the most popular maps are ussualy the "pp maps", i think if the pp system changes a little bit from time to time it will provide the ranking section some diversity. Xexxar's proposals are intresting, like the high BPM buff or the Length PP Rework, people like changes on the game and we can see diffrent kind of maps, win-win imo. (sorry if bad english lol)

Interesting how he mentions that "mapping quality doesn't matter" yet on the spreadsheet there are a few maps denied by captains for being too low quality of a map because "doesn't belong in the category". Really contradictory there.

From what I can tell this isn't really hypocritical since "mapping quality doesn't matter" isn't actually an argument he literally made. There's a difference between just kinda bad mapping and something with incorrect timing, if these maps had say correct timing or Metadata (the latter being simple to change) then the only thing hindering them from getting in is the team finding these maps and the community voting

I wish loved had more people involved though. The maps many people don't check out makes me wonder just how many haven't been promoted simply because people haven't seen it yet. Perhaps if stars were back but instead they used something like hype (1/person) they could promote them to a list where more people noticed them, like a qualified section for loved.

Saying that loved maps most often lack quality is the biggest understatement ever. But the loved section is a good thing because then I know what maps to avoid. With a few rare exceptions ofcourse.. I hate "fun" maps.
