I figured out mismagius not because of those old maps. I found him through this one map called “You Take The World’s Weight Away” by the Flashbulbs. I wouldn’t have found Mismagius in Big Black because I suck at that map.

TBH back then when it was a new map the reading was hard and speed impossible (for me at least). Today the reading is fine but the speed is hard.

Approval was either marathons, gimmicky to the point of changing the base gameplay, or reached a max score of... like, 18 million? Something like that. So naturally a lot of hard-for-the-time maps simply went for that score value to get approved, that's how mine got in there anyway. That changed right around when smile of split got approved, iirc. It barely made it in time.

I've enjoyed every one of Mismagius' maps that I've played so far and it's cool to see mappers that have been around for so long still making such awesome maps! Worldwide Choppers is what originally motivated me to get good in this game, I even made a bet with a friend I'd pass the map after one year of playing, fast forward three years and I still can't do it.

I absolutely hate the new mapping styles, because they focus so much more on cursor aim than on rhythm. Beatmaps that were for jump practice back in 2013/2014 is now baby-tier whose jumps are some of the easiest in modern beatmaps when compared to the insane types of jumps currently used. I genuinely feel like I'm playing a TAG 2 beatmap whenever I play popular modern maps. (I miss those feelmapped beatmaps that popped up around 2014-2016 like "Beatmania IIDX (Sota Fujimori) - Wobble Impact" by Priti, "Beatmania IIDX 21 SPADA (kors k) - Insane Techniques" by captin1, "Razihel & Virtual Riot - One for All, All for One" by kamisamaaa, "Various Artists - Drops" by Midge or "Sota Fujimori - Move That Body" by either Amamiya Yuko or fanzhen0019. Too many beatmaps don't follow that awesome beatmapping style) I really love all of mismagius maps, except for "EXTREME FUCKING SOCA PARTY", those jumps are killing me.
