PongiStyleChaos Difficulty is subjective. An ET considers 4* easy, beginner's might find 2* difficult. Your definition of difficult and easy will not be the same as others

+Chronical Varsity thats why YOU choose what kind of maps YOU like and play it. i like marathon stream maps because they are most fair so i mostly play them. imo stepmania is the same fucking game as osu!mania, i get almost same results in both games but since osu!mania has its own official page and since community is nice and is easy to find maps you like i play it more. i dont give a shit about rating system, every ET player doesnt give a shit about pp or star rating. and i like the fact that osu is fan game and is non-profit.

I play both games, and sure I have a preference, but I both enjoy and would recommend both games based on their own merits, such as, as stated in the video, osu!'s ease of access and online play and Etterna's more extensive set of gameplay altering mods. ... Hating on anime is a meme, nobody actually fucking cares if Osu is full of anime since Stepmania is too. Ignorance you say? I've played Stepmania for a year, then moved to osu!mania for the community and then went back to Stepmania after another year. I can safely say that osu!mania is garbage compared to Stepmania and even more garbage compared to Etterna (which is recently catching up with the few things osu! could do better than it). Next-Gen Stepmania? My ass. It's only played because of the popularity of Osu! in general. I'm pretty sure if Osu!mania were the only existing mode in Osu! few would have played it.

+Nixo NS they are same fucking game, just put a stepmania skin (which i use) and its same game. osu mania is better bcause its easier to download songs i like. i can also play stepmania converts, where i get almost same results as playing stepmania. stepmania needa fucking year to load, astetics are shit, its hard to find a good song, it has no competition, no multiplayer, o!m has better graphics, better animations, kinder community, more and easier options to edit your performance and graphics, easier way to put skins, and its a non profit fan game , im waiting for your reasons mate

The outstanding quality of the charts included in popular packs, which is monitored by the most experienced charters out there. An automatic difficulty calculator that actually works. The ability to customize the game to the point where you can actually program stuff into it. Tons of modifiers. An in-game skill calculator, which calculates how good you are at the game. this video is like doing a direct comparison of beatmania iidx to ddr, sure both games involve hitting scrolling notes to music and have offered a 4 key mode, but that's where the similarities end. the timing windows and the way hold notes work in beatmania iidx is done the same in osu mania. the same holds true to the timings and holdnotes of ddr in stepmania. not to mention the obvious differences of one being downscroll default and the other being upscroll default and both games using different file formats (and stepmania not requiring an account to download custom content)

5:08 Unless there's been an update in the o!m calculator I haven't heard of, this statement is complete bullshit. O!m's star system is based on the density of the chart and stamina (kind of) which doesn't make any sense. The only reason some maps have ''accurate'' rating is pure luck.

You kinda missed programmability and funky charts that taro does as well as all the gimmicky mods(such as the ones etienne used for the sm showcase @agdq) Furthermore you can change cmod much more precisely than osu's scaler. Adding Etterna on top of this makes o!m pretty much pointless in terms of competitiveness for 4k -> Infinitely better calculator with the game constantly improving as to o!m having 1 ranking for N different games (N being the keymods it holds for)

Depends on what client you are using, LR2 takes a bit longer than beatoraja for example. Not inherently difficult it just has more steps than what little effort Stepmania requires to install.

Modded maps, one example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJPSfmamZ9WHhKs Note:NotITG is a modified version of ITG and technically isn't stepmania but is still considered stepmania. Note 2: And modded maps are possible to make in Stepmania 5 and up.

Some errors: "osu!mania can only change scroll speed in game only", wrong, you can change scroll speed from song selection with ctrl + and ctrl -. "Stepmania has chord cohesion", yes and no, since you're using Etterna as an example for Stepmania gameplay, Etterna does not have chord cohesion. And some clarifications: osu!mania supports up to 20 key play. Otherwise, great explanation for the differences between the games!

Where do you turn on 20 keys? I only have access to 1 through 9K and then doubles for each of those for a maximum of 18K... Then again, unless maps are specifically built for 9K Doubles, there is no point in ever using it because to be honest, and I say this as a fan of both games, standard convert maps play like absolute ass...

I'd say try out all 3 and see which ones you like and dislike. I personally enjoy all 3 all for different reasons. I enjoy OsuMania because it has be the best multiplayer experience, and I enjoy Etterna/Stepmania because of the ease in getting large quantities of songs. I like Stepmania as it has a lot of customization options through themes and noteskins and the fact of it having chord cohesion. I like Etterna because it helps to push your limits with great score tracking, and a pretty reliable calculator for difficulty so you won't be jumping in to an overly difficult chart without knowing ahead of time. If you are into games for the communities both have their positives and negatives as any community would, the main difference between them however is OsuMania hs a much larger playerbase/community.
