True, and its not just in movies. Even videogames tend way to much to realism instead of creativity.

It is not even that far fetched, it’s just Batman being resourceful and having fun gadgets and getting out of high pressure situations with ingenuity like always. Such a shame that is considered too over the top and silly today.
@HalfEatenMedia6 ай бұрын
Yes. It’s easier to believe the fantasy when it’s designed as surreal. Any impracticalities don’t really matter since it’s not meant to be realistic but more of a stretch of what we know to be realistic.

Everyone says that the Penguin was just torn apart from being dumped in the sewer by his parents. But the truth is, his parents saw him for what he was when he was a baby. He murdered their pet cat when he was just a toddler. He was already a menace.
@afriendofbean6 жыл бұрын
+ilovebaconsandwiches Yes, Penguin was very sad after getting thrown into the sewer by his parents causing him to grow into an adult penguin all his life in the sewer which made him a villain out of anger because of that. Plus, he did tell Max Shreck how he (Penguin) wants to find out who his real parents are and know what his human name was and finally found out that it was Oswald Cobblepot.

ilovebaconsandwiches but raised by family of penguins and freak show circus people
@afriendofbean6 жыл бұрын
+james gallagher I think it was only the family of penguins that raised Penguin but, the circus gang didn't have anything to do with raising him because if they raised him, he would have been their henchmen instead of them being his henchmen. One way to show that they were his henchmen was that Penguin showed Catwoman how him and the circus gang are going to take control of Batman's batmobile and Penguin was the one who asked the circus gang to kidnap every child in Gotham City which showed that he was their leader. Also at the end, the circus gang abandoned Penguin and they probably wouldn't of abandoned him if he was their henchmen. (Perhaps maybe those circus gang were circus stars but, got fired from being in the circus and out of anger became bad guys where Penguin met them as he got older and asked them to work for him).

By far my favourite scene in the movie . You get to see just how demented the Penguin is and its deliciously hammy performance from Danny Devito , you can tell he's having fun sinking his teeth into the role . Favourite line is as the Batmobile is running everyone over everyone and cars "Maybe this is a bad time to mention this but my licence is expired ". Wouldnt surprise me if Devito add libbed that line. Its weird because originally when I watched this i didnt like it mainly because this wasn't the affably polite and sophisticated Penguin from the comic books , but then I realised its exactly what made this film that much more fun , as its a dark twisted re-imaging of the character . I also love how in the midst of the Batmobile being sabotaged Batman then does some quick thinking by recording what Penguin said . Its such a Batman thing to do , remain calm in danger and see what he can use against criminal masterminds. Even better because later on that recording proves to be Penguins downfall.

What an Underrated movie. Love the cast , the story , the atmosphere. It still looks so good for its time. @thewewguy8t885 жыл бұрын
@@Johnlindsey289 i think the dark knight is the defintive batman. batman TAS was well the issue with that show is it was a bit too cartoony which is also ironic considering i consider the joker in that series to be the defintive series. batman is a very complicated franchise as we have seen it can create the best of what comic/superhero movies have to offer and the worst of what comic/superhero movies have to offer.

To be fair, the Penguin is my favorite Batman villain, but not cuz he's one of the few, if not ONLY the one who isn't specifically insane to be one of Batman's most persistent enemies (But in this one, oh yeah he was really crazy). It's because he's simply a badass!
@tyranusfan7 жыл бұрын
Mine too. My main problem with the villains in this film was that Burton made Penguin into too much of a freak. He should have been a demented, eccentric millionaire from the start, with the traditional costume (seen in this clip), instead of the circus-raised animal we saw for most of the movie. *shrug*
@LordMalice6d97 жыл бұрын
Yeah, tim Burton had too much creative control in this film, he didn't have enough people working with him on set to keep him grounded or to tell him that some of his ideas were maybe a little too weird for most people. Oh well, Still a dark and unique film.

I felt this Penguin was essentially a different character. And… I love that character in equal measure to the original, but for entirely different reasons.
@Johnlindsey2896 жыл бұрын
+Rod +LordMalice6d9 +Aristide Twain Ever noticed how much Penguin on Batman TAS looked like Devito's version in the first 3 seasons before going back to the original design for season 4? i mean WB in 1991 were in production for both Batman Returns and the animated series for 1992 release date as in May when production on both movies began, WB wanted to tie in with the movie to appeal to the masses who will watch Batman TAS who enjoyed 1989's movie and soon to be released Returns to have Selina Kyle and Penguin look like their movie counterparts even use Jack Napier and more.

I love the line and delivery from Danny DeVito when he says “Welcome to the Oswald Cobblepot school of driving. Gentlemen…start your screaming.” Plus I didn’t know that when the bat mobile is stripping all the parts to it that was a model used. The whole Gotham abandoned zoo is almost a large scale miniature. Last movie I believe to used old school tricks like that.
