Joker and Batman have pretty much the same skill set. They both use gadgets and have a very high intelligence. Joker I dare is slightly smarter than Batman, as Batman is a much better fighter than Joker. Joker was always jealous of Batman's toys. Yet at the same time Batman had to stay on his toes due to the inventive nature of Joker's budget gadgets. Just think how dangerous Joker would have been if Joker had access to Military grade multi million dollar tools and gear! Joker was always about that gun powder and gasoline even back then.

When you realise that this scene is what inspired the scene in The Dark Knight where Joker yells “hit me” while Batman’s on the bike
@MrRolyat983 жыл бұрын
It’s kind of a common contemporary Joker theme. Joker is always trying to get Batman to break his no killing rule. It’s part of the reason why Joker racks up a body count.
@NathanDav423 жыл бұрын
Yep, it’s my favorite scene in both movies. Although while I do absolutely love this one, too, it makes less sense because this Batman not only consistently kills people throughout the entire movie, he’s doing it again in this very scene. He misses Joker by accident (I have no idea why...perhaps he didn’t use the Force?). In The Dark Knight Batman crashes because he simply won’t kill the Joker. He chooses not to kill him. In Batman 1989 he’d have been fine killing the Joker, he just fails to do so.
@MrRolyat983 жыл бұрын
@@NathanDav42 I remember reading the story boards for Batman 89. And they had it listed where the Joker was dodging everything Batman shot at him. Maybe Jack Nicholson didn’t feel like jumping around? But the scene where he is just standing there while stuff is blowing up around him almost comes across as more bada$$ since it’s showing that he’s fearless.
@NathanDav423 жыл бұрын
@@MrRolyat98 It’s definitely either badass or insane, but it also makes Batman look incompetent. And as I said, it’s always seemed like an homage to me of the Death Star assault and how Gold Leader uses the targeting computer but fails to blow it up, while Luke - listening to Obi-Wan’s ghost - makes the choice to ignore the tech and use the Force, and succeeds. So when Batman uses the targeting computer and fails, it reminded me of Star Wars. But Batman’s tech had worked really well up to then and he had the Joker 100% zeroed in. I love the scene and loved the Dark Knight’s version even better (because the Joker WANTING Batman to kill him and Batman refusing makes for stronger characters there), but they should’ve had SOME reason Batman missed there because otherwise he’s either incompetent or doesn’t know how the Force works.

Fun fact: the script called for the Joker to dance around the Batwing’s missiles to dodge them. For whatever reason, the scene wasn’t filmed this way and the missiles completely miss Joker despite the Batwing having a full target lock. The movie’s tie-in comic tries to explain this by mentioning that Joker had a signal jammer on him and missiles swung off target and hit the goons instead.
@gendoruwo63222 жыл бұрын
it's much better this way. The contrast makes the point: the Batwing plane is very mobile. Joker is stationary target. Batwing is armored. Joker is 'naked' target, no armor. The Batwing is armed to the teeth with machine guns and missiles. Joker only has single revolver. The Batwing rains death everywhere. Still couldn't get Joker, who downs Batwing with just one shot. This one scene makes the Batman movie unforgettable. That one immortal moment that cements Joker as absolute badass.
@Darthzilla992 жыл бұрын
You can also find the movie script online. In the script, it describes Batman's inner thoughts during this scene. He's confused and frustrated at how the Joker has such unnatural luck to have survived the missiles and bullets, and describes the Joker as a demon with how lucky he is. Keep in mind this definitely is comic book accurate as the Joker always survives the most absurd situations. I also think this scene fits the Batman and Joker rivalry perfectly. Batman is the ultimate preparations and contingency hero while the Joker is the most unpredictable villain. I kinda of think Batman's targeting system was prepared for everything except for the Joker staying stationary.

For those wondering why Joker wasn't shot by Batman there even though he had all those laser aim sights its because in the comic version of this it's says he's got a jammer and the missiles and gun actually hit Joker's goons and the giant pistol had a bomb bullet. @axebomber21084 жыл бұрын
@@m.valdivia8048 Why should Batman be more serious than Star Wars? So many of you act like it's a given that Batman has to be the most serious, realistic, no-nonsense character in fiction ever, but the reason why is never given. This is the first time Batman was ever depicted as dark outside the comics, and you act like it's still not enough. Most people at the time only knew Adam West Batman or Superfriends Batman. Batman does not have to be depicted in only one way, Nolan's version or Frank Miller's version or Snyder's version are not the only valid takes on the character. He can be campy gangster fiction like Dick Tracy, he can be whizbang sci-fi, he can be a slightly more serious but still bizarre detective fiction, he can be dark and grimy and gritty and violent as hell, he can be realistic, whatever.

This entire scene is just masterful and beautiful. It basically cuts between mere mortals been stupid with funny music and Batman being a force of nature with the most epic music ever many times over, as if to tell you “I don’t think you understand how badass this guy is yet, so I’ll make it very clear”.

1989 but that Batwing is still way cooler than the ones in Nolan's and Snyder's movies.

black panther Can’t compare the Snyder turkey to the Nolan films.

black panther Really? When Snyder can have a resume of class movies like the Prestige, Inception, and Memento, please get back to me. And the TDKR Batwing takes it design cues from a Harrier Jump Jet, a V-22 Osprey and AH-64 Apache. "ThE nOlAn FiLmS aInT eVeN rEaL bAtWiNg Or BaTmObIlE." Not every comic book movie has to be catered to fit your needs. Besides, I fell asleep through Batman vs Superman because it was a crock of absolute shit. Comic book fans are the worst fandom ever. You included. So cry about it to someone else.

black panther Funny fucker, ain’t ya? Got nothing better to do than rise to the bait whenever someone doesn’t agree with your opinion, I see. Your loss, not mine.

black panther And that’s rich coming from a sad wanker with only two followers and an amateurish attempt at a fat shaming video. Nothing better to do, eh? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I really do pity you.

I love how this Batman dosen't have the "no killing" rule. Just pure Golden Age Batman...
@MrAwesome4579 ай бұрын
The no-killing rule is what makes Batman Batman.

Now THIS is the classic Joker at his finest. Heath Ledger did good with a more realistic adaptation of a fictitious character, but IMO he can't hold a candle to Jack Nicholson. He's like Mark Hamill's animated series Joker in live action.

Batman's aim is goddamn atrocious. Even with a targeting computer, he misses a guy just standing there asking to get shot.

It’s the area of influence, if two guns are centered and have a fixed angle, when both are lined at that position, it’s out of its radius to hit him, joker was just perfectly centered which is why the shots went right past him.

I make fun of it a lot, but I chalk it up to not having tested the plane prior to constructing it was the real problem, like THIS scene was the test run..

Apple man It's a dumb question I'm sure, but did Joker actually show remorse after shooting him? It didn't seem that he wanted to kill Bob, other than out of anger and feeling betrayed. His other henchmen could've known too, but did they...

Jack nickleson is the only person who played joker who I believe could actually be the joker in real life. Man just looks like he's on bad day away from a shooting spree.
