El Santo is everything Warrior wanted to be - Viewed as a real life superhero by his fans - So popular that jumped to comic books and movies - Become a national icon and a household name around the world The difference is that Santo was humble, hardworking and every person that worked with him praised him. I agree with everything here besides calling el Santo a household name around the world. Unless you live or grew up in Mexico, you’d have no idea who he was if you weren’t a wrestling fan. Only reason I know who he is is through wrestling. I would’ve never heard of him if not for his wrestling.

@@theoneandonlymichaelmccormick so what? Disney makes a lot of obscure references in their films. There’s entire videos about adult jokes in cartoons. Just bc it’s referenced doesn’t mean anyone watching knows what the reference is pertaining too. And what Disney film was this? Was it nacho libre? the one about wrestling? Bc if so, I’m not sure that refutes my opinion at all… regardless, el Santo isn’t a household name in the states. If you go ask 100 random people on the street who el santo is less than 10 of them know. Less than 10% isn’t a household name. You ask the same 100 people who the ultimate warrior is I guarantee you 75 of them know he’s a wrestler.

He successfuly ran with the oppurtunities he was given. He didn't buy a ticket to a show to jump the barricade and run into the ring to do a test-of-strength on Hogan while Vince's eyes shot out of his head like a cartoon and all the wrestlers said "wow, look that this guy! This is to comics what "The Room" is to movies. Much like Warrior giving out to everybody he had to deal with in his wrestling career, Tommy Wiseau used his movie as way to give out to unfaithful partners. If you remember from "The Room" review, Wiseau based it on his own cheating fiancee and how the whole movie made it clear he never got over it. He made his character look like a paragon of virtue while the supporting cast were all portrayed negatively. Except Warrior failed in these comics to properly portray his character in a positive way. He went on and on about how the Ultimate Warrior is a superhero. But he obviously doesn't understand the nature of a superhero. A superhero, for the most part, is one who is willing to put others before himself. And to ask for help from others is not a sign of weakness. To ask for help takes great courage and strength and there's no shame in asking for a helping hand from time to time. So even in trying to put himself over as a positive force for good, he fails at that. Lastly, not only did he rip off He-Man and Thundercats, but I sense a Maxx vibe as well. If you're not aware of the Maxx, it was a comic book by Image Comics back in the mid-90s. The comic tells the adventures of the titular hero in two worlds: the real world and an alternate reality known as the Outback. In the real world, he's a vagrant whose only friend is a freelance social worker named Julie Winters. But in the Outback, he's a superhero and protector of Julie's doppleganger known as the Jungle Queen. The comic was also adapted into a TV show on MTV. There was something there that could've been done to make the Ultimate Warrior a comic book superhero. But it failed because once again, Warrior proved to be his own worst enemy.

I’ll never forget the first time I heard of this comic the Linkara and Spoony crossover. God that has to be more than a decade old at this point. Keep up the good works lads

1:10:30 Clearly the artist confused Warrior with Hogan.

Ah, a nice little gift to wake up to on this day! Merry Christmas fellas and fellow Nogger U members! EDIT: I am sure that cameo made V1 very happy indeed seeing he is a big fan! Great stuff. This episode pretty much proves that Warrior was just pure bollocks!

Where Warrior failed in making destrucity a thing, Deadlock thrived. And that’s for Destrucity.

Due to the Benoit Incident, Vince's Million Dollar Mania, and the Guest Host Era, I stopped watching WWE for about a year, but Spoony and Linkara's review of the Warrior comic got me back into wrestling again. It feels nice seeing other people take the piss out of it.

Omg the AVGN Nightmare on Elm Dtreet reference had me cracking up.

The more I listen to you boys the more I realise Mr OOC is essentially the Roy Keane of the podcast, takes no sh*t, very straight talking. Fully expecting him to “well that’s his job”

These guys did a better job with The Warrior comic than Linkara.
@CapitalExpression2 жыл бұрын
they had more time and are more knowledgeable about the details of the wrestling side. Linkara was more focused on the sequential storytelling, the art, and all in all the comic side.
@StealthMarmot_ Жыл бұрын
@@CapitalExpression Also he had only been doing video reviews for under 2 years, had to do a lot of filming and writing in a rushed manner to fit into a con schedule, and that was about 15 years ago. These guys have been doing this for over a decade, and have probably a couple decades life experience over Linkara at the time. Worth also mentioning it was a collaboration with Spoony, though that wasn't a negative.
@bystander2318 Жыл бұрын
@Chris Lauderdale But Linkara never rushes video. He always gives disclaimers that it will be out when its out and be released when its out. But great work ethic.

*That clip at **10:50** is so funny to me because he not only gets to the ring in .5 seconds but also doesn't do ANYTHING to interact with the crowd. Just straight to the ring, clotheslines, maybe 2 or 3 suplexes....paycheck.* Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all you little warriors out there.

I love that the most compelling and unintentionally entertaining story in these comics is not fiction at all but 💯 fact - Warrior falling out with his artists. It's foking awesome!

I remember back in the early 2000's, Warrior having petty fights with various websites. In fact something awful still have up the chain email back and fourth from 2005 stemming from them linking warriors homepage to their 'Awful Link of the day' 😂😂

"THIS IS HIS BIBLE" true words have never been spoken!!! when I got this comic for my nephew, he was a huge warrior fan and i read it for kicks. You know back then we didn't have a phone with a KZbin app on it. I thought to myself "THIS DUDE ACTUALLY BELIEVES HE IS A GREEK GOD!!" I can't say it's *unbelievable* because I read it. But that comic was weird!!
@plcthelegacy41313 жыл бұрын
Warrior says that his character is meant to be a real life superhero, but I'm pretty sure that he doesn't really know what a superhero is. Not people who have amazing abilities and uses them to improve society, but a bunch superpower slapnuts who are above everyone and the law.
@OSW3 жыл бұрын
Ha ha! Yes, "hero" in a very loose definition. The type of hero that would not use his superpowers to pull you from the wreckage of a burning plane & let u burn to death, because asking for help is weakness!

I can understand why Jim Cornette hates Warrior's guts. Issue 3 legit disgusted me and I was roaring with laughter at the Dalek line harder than anything in absolute ages. The DDP/Randy Savage Thanksgiving phone message anecdote is what life between successful or at least grateful people should be. Warrior's philosophy on selfishness genuinely disturbs me. Teenager self absorption never growing up as he was handed opportunities denied better wrestlers and with a ridiculous amount of steroids to boot. I feel like I have seen the insights of a disturbed mind and I don't much care for it.
