Warriors problem was that he seemingly thought himself above wresting and was here in WCW for exposure and nothing else, and Helwig legit had delusions of grandeur. He wanted to transcend into being some kind of mainstream celebrity/faux real life superhero who spouts vague and overly verbose self-help nonsense... yet he never even came close to his goal. Warrior briefly entered the cultural zeitgeist in the late 80's, and it's like Helwig has been chasing that moment ever since. He should've just founded a cult like most people with such aspirations do. But he was more ambitious. XD

The idea of taking apart The Flock to then put them all in a losing streak while the leader racks up losses and still says they were holding him back is such a good start to build a new group. Maybe they could have had the members of the flock start working together without Raven, racking up wins and becoming champions. While Raven is still losing. He might try and start a new Flock, with other heels but still not winning with them. Raven would start to feud with the old Flock with his new team. After a huge loss at a ppv The New Flock attacks Raven, blaming him for their loss. And when it seems Raven has no one left in his life, getting beaten down by his new old group, the original Flock saves him. They don't like Raven but they can't deny that he is the reason they all met, saving him as a small "Thank You" from old friends. From there you can do a lot of things, Raven redemption arc, New Flock vs Old, hell you can still have Raven refuse the old Flock's help. Raven not understanding that they could be stronger together. He can't see it because he is known as the Loner, which stems from his fear of attachment that he got from his parents. He feels his fear is validated as not only the New Flock but the old had left him. If someone actually thought about making a good story in WCW then we could have gotten a multi dimensional Raven. This plot is way the fuck better than making Raven a whiney child in a man's body with rich parents, ruining his character.

I love your pitch for the Scott Steiner / doll possession movie. Also, I’ll go on record and say this. “Gentleman” Chris Adams was not a jobber. I used to watch world-class championship wrestling out of Texas in the 80s and he was one of the main stars down there.
@Pensfan5919 Жыл бұрын
He literally trained Steve Austin. That should be enough to not be considered a jobber.

WWE women in general these days look... weird. Thier makeup department needs to lay off huffing paint. I guess it's so people in row Z can see their eye-shadow, but up close, looks ridiculous. XD

Just a sidenote, Super Caló must be the weirdest Luchador gimmicks ever: his name comes from a Mexican "rap" group called Caló (it was 2 dancers + 2 women singers + 1 dude doing very basic rapping like Vanilla Ice or Marky Mark) and his Cap and Sunglasses mask look was inspired on their frontman Claudio Yarto; I've never found out what the connection between the two is, Calo was just a super popular group in the early 90's

People have their reasons why WCW failed, but the fact that here we are decades later and one of the better promos on the show was Chukcy says a lot about WCW management. WCW sold out every chance they got. David Arquet, Robo Cop, and Chucky. Killers row right there, well at least one of them was. ;)
@BigK133723 жыл бұрын
I honestly kind of wish NXT sold out and did an angle involving Bron Breakker having a feud with Chucky. Especially now that that show is well loved by general audience
@BigK133723 жыл бұрын
@@dolandarkxgrandayy6953 I know. But I mean actually have Chucky interact. Cut a promo or something. Have him talk shit to Bron like he did to his dad, leading to the guy beating the shit out of the doll as vegence to what happen 20 years ago. Y’know stupid good shit like that

Robo Cop was like 1990 and a directive from Turner. But otherwise, I agree that they used celebrities and promotional tie ins way, way too often.

A lot of the celebrity endorsements were either due to the star power of Hulk Hogan (Rodman & Leno) and Randy Savage (Slim Jim), but the others were likely pushed by Turner executives themselves. Remember, Turner was merging with Warner Brothers at this point to become AOL/Time-Warner, Inc., so they needed all the publicity they could get. The only problem? You have people who have no clue how to properly book a wrestling show booking a wrestling show (Russo [who needed someone like a Vince McMahon to filter out the river of bullshit from the few good ideas he had, which he didn't have in WCW] & Bischoff [Yes, Bischoff won 83 weeks in a row, but that's down to both companies putting on utter drivel from 1993 when Monday Night RAW first debuted until Bash at the Beach 1996, Bischoff ripping off the NJPW inter-company wars to develop the New World Order invasion despite having no real endgame plan to shut the angle down when it was necessary & the WWF being stuck in its woeful New Generation phase full of day job personas, terrible mid-card gimmicks, The Kliq running roughshod backstage before Diesel & Razor left, and a lackluster main event predominantly anchored by two people whose personal animosity lead to the downfall of the Hart Foundation, not counting when Sid or Undertaker were interim placeholder champions whenever HBK decided to vacate the title so he wouldn't have to lose to "The Hitman" when he should've done the proper thing & lost to "The Excellence of Execution" like a professional instead of being a real-life degenerate asshole whom boss Mr. McMahon had an obvious gay man crush for to the point that they deliberately sabotaged Bret's remaining months in the WWF before the infamous Montreal Screwjob took place]), you had WCW reinventing itself every time management changed (Jim Herd, Bill Watts, Eric Bischoff, Vince Russo, Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff, etc.), WCW affording "creative control clauses" to certain people (Hulk Hogan, primarily) to the chagrin of everyone else because all that did was allow "The Hulkster" to keep himself on top & fuck-over everyone else (even his lap-dog ally Brother Bruti/The Butcher/Booty Man/Zodiac/The Man With No Name/The Disciple) & simultaneously increase the real-life animosity between the leader of the nWo Hollywood & his fellow Golden Era mega star Randy "Macho Man" Savage (basically throughout both the WWF & definitely in WCW, Savage was always playing 2nd banana to the "Real American"/"American Made" heroic protagonist or, conversely, the heel leader of "the New World Order organization, brother" who only had to say "this doesn't work for me, brother" to have the script altered to suit his favor, often with him coming out on top every time), the company relied far too heavily on a small handful of things (nWo storyline dominating the main event [often to the detriment of other performers on the show] and talentless hoss Goldberg's clearly inflated undefeated winning streak [which was really the only way to get a guy like Goldberg over, but I digress, because you had people like DDP and Regal losing to the former Atlanta footballer with Two Moves of Doom when they honestly shouldn't've, since that devalues their stock as a result, not to mention that Goldberg couldn't stay undefeated forever, he would need to learn how to deliver promos & actually put on longer matches beyond 2 minute squashes eventually if he was going to remain relevant after the novelty of seeing him mow through low end talent wore off] that ended in terrible fashion by having Kevin Nash beat WCW's only significant homegrown star that existed when WCW was still winning the Monday Night War - as DDP didn't become a big star until after WCW was already on the losing end - for the World Championship thanks to interference from Scott Hall using a taser gun, and letting B+ player celebrities as well as creative personnel win the top prize [Mr. Courtney Cox himself David Arquette & Vince Russo becoming champion] for monetary endorsement or unnecessary shock value meanwhile also completely destroying the prestige of the Big Gold Belt) rather than doing what was "best for business" by creating solid characters across the board alongside making sure everyone up & down the card gets pushed (this is why Jericho, the Radicalz & the WCW lower card talent all left the company) as well as forcing the main eventers to let younger talent get over instead of constantly burying them (as in, Goldberg refusing to do the angle with Jericho, the nWo constantly making the representatives of WCW look like small-time chumps despite using their numbers game to gain an unfair advantage, having a corrupt referee in Nick Patrick use his bias to benefit the nWo whilst weakening their opponents, or having the company's TV president Eric Bischoff riding Hollywood Hogan's coattails to where Bischoff couldn't tell "The Hulkster" NO when he should have put his foot down & told Hogan that you abide by the script or you'll be spending your lucrative money off TV at home, regardless of the incentives written into Hogan's ridiculous contract, etc.).

The reason that Warrior didn't take off his robe / cape was because he suffered from a torn bicep and underwent surgery sometime before the match took place. He wasn't healed up which is why Sting did the majority of the work during the match. Warrior was in no condition (due to the injury) to do his regular stuff. Another great episode. You always knock it out of the park.

The Chucky promo... I watched it live. And even then, I wasn't quite a smart mark yet... but I was blown away that they allowed a face in a feud to get absolutely buried in a promo... by a puppet. Rick's career never truly recovers from that segment. It's all downhill after it. Judy Bagwell getting mixed into the Steiner brothers feud is just the icing on that burial cake.
