Absolutely hilarious line, and highlights his biggest weakness, but he's correct in terms of the sentiment. Very few wrestlers in history have had power and agility on the level of the Bulldog. He could wrestle a high level technical match with Shawn Michaels and have a power brawl with Vader. He was a unique talent

Warriors problem was that he seemingly thought himself above wresting and was here in WCW for exposure and nothing else, and Helwig legit had delusions of grandeur. He wanted to transcend into being some kind of mainstream celebrity/faux real life superhero who spouts vague and overly verbose self-help nonsense... yet he never even came close to his goal. Warrior briefly entered the cultural zeitgeist in the late 80's, and it's like Helwig has been chasing that moment ever since. He should've just founded a cult like most people with such aspirations do. But he was more ambitious. XD

His promos at this time were legendarily atrocious. I am amazed it is not more well known in the wrestling landscape. All anyone talks about is the flash paper botch at the PPV and the mirror spot... but the entire thing was just, yikes! I was watching through my hands near the end and with clenched teeth. And it sadly all can be blamed on Warrior being so self-indulgent, and WCW indulging him.

I've heard you guys bitch a bunch of times how WCW never let the upper mid to upper card get clean victories. MMA has a winner every single fight with rare exceptions. Even if you think a fighter got robbed on the scoring, there is still a winner. Nobody thinks less of a dude if he loses. If you cant make somebody take a loss and find a way to keep them strong then you suck as an agent or a booker.

@@billhicks6449 Exactly. The WWWF rings were more like boxing rings, so they were bigger and harder and that carried through to WWF. The smaller southern rings for smaller venues were more open underneath and apparently required less structure. Plus, a lot of the sound comes from the mic placement. WWF would put more stuff to dampen the sound allegedly as opposed to Crockett.

The idea of taking apart The Flock to then put them all in a losing streak while the leader racks up losses and still says they were holding him back is such a good start to build a new group. Maybe they could have had the members of the flock start working together without Raven, racking up wins and becoming champions. While Raven is still losing. He might try and start a new Flock, with other heels but still not winning with them. Raven would start to feud with the old Flock with his new team. After a huge loss at a ppv The New Flock attacks Raven, blaming him for their loss. And when it seems Raven has no one left in his life, getting beaten down by his new old group, the original Flock saves him. They don't like Raven but they can't deny that he is the reason they all met, saving him as a small "Thank You" from old friends. From there you can do a lot of things, Raven redemption arc, New Flock vs Old, hell you can still have Raven refuse the old Flock's help. Raven not understanding that they could be stronger together. He can't see it because he is known as the Loner, which stems from his fear of attachment that he got from his parents. He feels his fear is validated as not only the New Flock but the old had left him. If someone actually thought about making a good story in WCW then we could have gotten a multi dimensional Raven. This plot is way the fuck better than making Raven a whiney child in a man's body with rich parents, ruining his character.

Fun fact about Dale Torborg while we have him on the show: Post WCW, he transitioned into coaching Major League Baseball teams, primarily fitness and strength coaching, primarily due to nepotism (his dad was a notable manager in MLB). While in his job, he got into a heated confrontation with pitcher Antonio Alfonseca that left Alfonseca hiding in another room and getting traded out of the team not long after. Torborg is also responsible for getting A.J. Pierzynski, player for the then-World Series Champions the Chicago White Sox, to show up in TNA.

I was about 9-10 years old when Warrior retuned on Nitro, and I was a child of early divorce so my dad was lenient and would let me stay up late to watch Raw/Nitro because in Cali they aired later. So when I was at my mom's house I would have to literally beg her to stay up and get good grades and be good to be able to stay up and watch. I remember watching the Nitro when Warrior returned and I was screaming and my mom was yelling at me to stfu because my younger siblings were sleeping and I was trying to explain why this was so cool... but then she sent me to bed lmao, I was lucky I didnt have to watch Warrior's whole 20 min promo

I feel I should point out the early era of mma was going on at the same time WCW was killing its cruiserweights. In the UFC and Pride the response to smaller fighters getting popular was to creat lighter weight classes to better showcase them while simultaneously getting rid of the crazy ass open weight tournaments. WCW seemed determined to give the smaller guys their own division to shine, purely to feed them to whatever heavyweight they wanted to get over that month.

Just a sidenote, Super Caló must be the weirdest Luchador gimmicks ever: his name comes from a Mexican "rap" group called Caló (it was 2 dancers + 2 women singers + 1 dude doing very basic rapping like Vanilla Ice or Marky Mark) and his Cap and Sunglasses mask look was inspired on their frontman Claudio Yarto; I've never found out what the connection between the two is, Calo was just a super popular group in the early 90's
