@Adam L if you could link any of those podcasts, I'd be eternally grateful! A bit of backstory to my 15 minutes, we were all congregating at the entrance to the MEN arena and the bloke from the QVC shopping channel was conducting the interviews with fans. By a stroke of luck I was stood in the right place at the right time and this QVC bloke grabbed me and asked me who I was looking forward to seeing and who I thought would win the main event....I thought everybody was going to say stone cold so I lied to the QVC guy and declared my love for Shane McMahon, just to be different...problem was the QVC guy had to do a 3 second countdown before I spoke, but I kept on interrupting him on 1 because I was excited and nervous. After 4 attempts the QVC guy said "right, if you don't get it right this time, I'm moving onto the next person"....luckily I got it right on my final attempt but I came across like a right dickhead because of the pressure and nerves.. An hour or so later me and my mates were in the arena and all of a sudden I popped up on the Titantron and my life there and then, became complete lol. Nearly as cringy as the Bulldog kid from Wembley 92'!

She & the other 4 Horsewomen (both iterations: Becky herself, Charlotte & the Boss 'n Hug Connection AND those transferred from MMA, namely "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke & Shafir) are the most marketable talents on the 2 main rosters (barring NXT) & that, in itself, speaks volumes.

@@TherealRNOwwfpooh don't worry bout that dude. He just angry. Another attitude era mark that thinks nothing will ever be as good as that ever. But if you actually watch all of that era from start to finish you realize most of it was shit and people remember if nostalgia glasses on. If it wasn't for Austin, Rock, Foley, HBK at the start, that era had nothing but shit wrestlers and Jerry Springer gimmicks mixed with Howard Stern. Edgy shit for the sake of it. The matches were all shit. I can't think of one all time great match during the attitude era. Wrestling was the after thought and it was all about stupid storylines. Even Taker was garbage. Ministry Taker was awful. It's what trailer park kids would think was dark and edgy. Today's wrestlings blows it away by far. If the company allowed the guys and girls to make their own characters it would be so much better. Alot of the people their can make great characters cause they did it in other places including NXT but Vince ruins them. You think Vince wrote all Stone Colds or Rock's lines? No they did it themselves and created the characters we remember them for forever. They need to be allowed to do that again. They are wasting all that talent. From top to bottom, the roster has never been better in terms of pure talent and in ring skill then it is today. So it's sad to see it wasted. I can't watch WWE. I just keep up on it through KZbin. I won't give them money or ratings until shit is fixed. I just watch NJPW. Only company I would pay to see cause they actually know how to tell stories properly and it's the best wrestling in the world. Anyone who thinks it's not is just in denial. Very rarely are you disappointed with matches in NJPW. Hopefully my favorite wrestler for the last ten years Ibushi, finally wins the title. He deserves it. Look for him and Okada to put on a classic during wrestle kingdom. NXT has the next best wrestling but only issue is I'm always worried when guys or girls get popular cause Vince will take them and ruin them.

I got curious about why Snow and Blackman were called "Head Cheese." I couldn't remember why so I looked a bit to jog my memory. So it goes like this. Snow and Blackman got randomly teamed up like a lot of tag teams during the Attitude era and they were successful. Once they one they got a shot at the tag titles. Now that they were going to be a team Snow came to Blackman with a cape and suggested that they be called "Head Count" since Blackman had the personality of a deadman. Blackman's face showed he didn't like it so Snow came to him with a few different gimmicks. One of them was a wheel of cheese and he suggested "Head Cheese." Well again Blackman didn't like it but during their match the fans got behind them by chanting "Head Cheese." So that's the one that got over so that's the team name now. I know this a whole lot for a silly name on a video from a while ago but for the Blackman fans that are out there here's an explanation.

If WWE ever struggles to push a character, they should go back and watch HHH during this match. This is Dec. 1998. By the time Wrestlemania 2000 comes along in a year and 4 months HHH will be a be a brand new wrestler. His look, his ring gear, his hair, his music, pretty much everything about him changed until they found something that worked. So WWE. If you don't know how to get someone over. Think HHH in 1999. Oh man. How do we get Kofi over as a singles star? Do what you did with HHH in 1999. Wow Shelton Benjamin's back and we need to put him in the main event. But he just isn't that good on the mic. The one thing I would love to see more of from OSW is the lip sync/voice over like Jay's "I hope you're happy" and (my favorite moment of all the reviews) "I got you a title shot!". I lose my shit any time it happens.

Hilarious how the landscape of wrestling has changed compared to back in 2014. Another thing I might add is people still give X-Pac a lot of shit but looking back he was a pretty solid and entertaining worker. The thing that hurt him though was no matter the gimmick change or if he was heel or face he always had the same mannerisms much like Dolph Ziggler today.

Undoubtedly The Undertaker's best theme and entrance. As OOC alluded to, it is worth a topic on its own. Actually, the themes of the Attitude Era were a HUGE part of its success in my opinion. The Rock, Undertaker, Kane, Austin, HHH, DX, N.O.D., Mankind, Vince, heck even Test had awesome themes. Great memories!

Jeff Jarrett is the Nickleback of professional wrestling: Not overtly bad, usually competent but completely unremarkable. Great wrestler my ass. If you can't manage to have a good feud with Kurt Angle, then the problem is you... or the booker. Point is, Jarrett is NOT great. Never was, never will be.
@JuanRodriguez-gj5ry10 жыл бұрын
hahaha best description of JJ EVER. Still, never a good thing to be compared to Nickelbak lol
@Vinnce1210 жыл бұрын
Then there's the whole case with nepotism being the only reason he ever made it in the industry, with his father being one of the most respected promoters in the history of wrestling but a lot of younger wrestlers tend to get by utilizing their family lineage, so it wouldn't be fair to only call out JJ... although that doesn't excuse him from booking himself as the world champion several times in his own company. Say would you want about HHH, at least he's charismatic and keeps his character consistent. Does that answer your inquiry on why people don't like Jarrett? I can give a lot more reasons if you have the time.

That doesn't take away from the fact that the overall talent of the man behind the angle can be summarized with the timeless expression... "meh" Putting aside my personal opinion towards the angles you mentioned (fantastic... pfft), even the most dense of men can strike gold if given the enough times and resources.

This episode is how I discovered & became a fan of Becky Lynch. I watched this 9 years ago & saw this & felt bad for her then a few months later I watched my first NXT PPV NXT Unstoppable in 2015 & Becky came out with the steampunk gimmick & bright orange hair & tore the house down with Sasha & I remembered this rant & it made me feel happy for her to overcome that debut & i've been a fan of her ever since & almost 10 years later she's become 1 of the biggest female wrestlers of all time. It's insane how far she's come even back to her Rebecca Knox days no wonder she has a book coming out this year.

So glad you loved Gangrel's theme. I used to love it too. Actually, the themes of the Attitude era you mentioned were all ones I thought were great too. Even Edge's first theme in the WWF wasn't that bad either. Speaking of themes, Do you remember Taka Michinoku's? it's one of my favs ever.
