Re:Creators is by far one of the most underrated animes of our recent history. It pisses me off till this day how so many people failed to understand the philosophical meaning behind this shows story, just because they went into it, thinking it was just going to be a generic battle royale between characters that embody popular anime, manga, and game tropes. As someone who has Re:Creators, as one of their top 10 best animes of all time, I can't thank you enough for making this video. I wish more people were able to see the genius behind this anime like you did, because I can't emphasize how much it deserves it.

I reallly love Re:Creators, as one of the most philosophical anime ever made. But what unfortunate is the lack use of Magane as a Character. Her role as an antagonist and plot armor is terrific, but as a character she's one of the least fleshed out. Her line "Entertain the audience and entertain me" give me chills. She's breaking the 4th wall after she already breaking the 4th wall. She's like the deadpool of the series, with more tight screws but no breaks. I love to see her more on an OVA where we just see her smiling and killing people for no reason while breaking the 4th wall and talk about philosophy. Heck i bet she's a better narrator in the summary episode than Meteora.
@theanxietybuster513 Жыл бұрын
I know this response is late but I’d like to think that the reason she wasn’t used much was because the plot events stopped being fun to her, especially when she realized she no longer was bound to being a villain in the story. It’s never directly stated or shown but would fit her character and some lines of dialogue. I also feel that her final act in the story would have wiped her out of existence if she literally brought the real Setsuna back to life with her powers since similar insane feats performed by Altair would have ejected her from our reality prior to the last few episodes. Of course, all of this is speculation and requires quite a bit of head canon logic

@@powerthunfischdesdonners3086 There is a lot they can approach for the second season, but I think the most obvious would be an opposite equivalent, where the creators get pulled into their ongoing worlds and have to reach an end point without the powers of plot armour to protect them. @@OtakuDaiKun while i agree that the story for re;creators itself is over, many people still want to know more about the stories from re:creators. Back a few months ago there were rumors that Elemental Symphony of Vogelchevalier and Code・Babylon were going to be made into actual full series anime and/or manga. Of all the stories from re;creators, I'd have to say those 2 stood out the most. (to me at least) As for the other creations it's pretty easy to figure out what they were referencing: 1. Alicetaria's world and story gave me some major berserk vibes. 2. Yuya and Sho were clearly persona and/or jojo references. 3. Mamika is literally the embodiment of the mahou Shoujo genre before princess tutu and madoka magica were a thing. 4. Rui was....now that i think about it we really know almost nothing about his story- same goes for magane. 5. Do i even need to point out what Hikayu was referencing?? So yes, even though the series is over there are still plenty of things from this multiverse that can be explored. And since actually continuing re;creators would only ruin what I personally consider a perfect ending, the best way to explore further would be to shift the focus to the creations and the stories they came from

Really enjoyed this show's commentary on the struggle to BE creative. As an artist, I empathized with Selesia's illustrator so much. She's had a reasonable level of success and is acknowledged for her skills as an artist, but still suffers from feelings of inferiority when she sees Blitz's author drawing in front of her during a latter segment. The combination of feeling inferior, while also feeling guilty for having those feelings (or worst case scenario, projecting them onto someone else's work) is an absolute nightmare and a half, especially when you don't have a confidant you can talk to about those kinds of things. Even before she explained her feelings on the subject, the show did such a great job of capturing the silent self inflicted torture of those moments that I had sit back and cringe in response. Truly this anime was a venting session for creative types everywhere! anyway, great video Dai! I appreciate you discussing a topic that's now so far removed from the "current anime news cycle", most anitubers are too afraid of losing viewer engagement to try it, but a good video topic is always good no matter what! Given that how unlikely and unrealistic such a scenario is and how philosophical questioning it is, I would question my own reality. Is there someone who created me in the multiverse or are there some higher form of creators which are beyong our universe? I would definitly feel sorry if my creations would become the same form of existence as I am. I wouldn't myself as a powerful omnipotent god of some sort but I will acknowledge that everything my creations went through, no matter how good or bad or pleasant or horrible, I am kinda responsible for it so I would not deny that they have every right to be mad at me if they want.

I understand how characters may feel (supposing they could feel) if they are written to be miserable, but its also true that, if they are unappealing, nobody would care about them. Think about history, do we remeber the happy family whose biggest problem was the dead grandma, or do we remember the conquerors, the bloodthirsty lords and the troubled adventurers? To be remembered is to live for a character, so you could say that their suffering is the price to pay for living (who guessed, much like us real people).

I am so glad you made a video on this anime, it's one of my favorite anime of all time, and quickly cemented a place in my memory. It's criminally underrated by people who seem to just hate on this anime. Re:Creators actually reminds me of the Fate series in a way, and vice versa. Whereas Fate deals with the philosophies of characters from different histories/legends clashing, Re:Creators deals with genres. How would Guts from Berserk deal with meeting someone like Madoka? How would a light novel villain interact with a fighting game character(it doesn't go so well for Yuya, does it?)? As far as using background characters in a story go, they did kind of make a reason as to why it was mostly main characters in stories: they used the power of "acceptance" as a reason as to why only certain characters were brought to this world. Altair didn't just bring random characters, but it's implied that the characters who resonate best with their audiences were the ones brought. I think it makes sense that acceptance boosts a character's popularity and reason for it, but getting the most popular characters makes the fights more high profile would be my guess? Kind of like how in Fate you get more characters with well known legends than ones with less known ones?

I love this video and your analysis. There are a couple of points I have to disagree, though: 1 - I truly believe Suruga felt compassion for her creations, she simply didn't externalized it due to her cynic nature. Resurrecting Erina took a lot of effort, more than simply forcing Blitz fight Altair. Also, I don't think she'd be able to kill Erina after knowing her in person. 2 - Somehow, that Setsuna becomes the real Setsuna thanks to Altair's actions, since she has memories that Souta couldn't know, like the fact that she created Altair so Souta could see her. So a combination of factors caused creation Setsuna to acquire the original's mind and/or soul.
@OtakuDaiKun4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you regarding Suruga. The entire point is to show tension between a creator's job to make drama and the fact that great storytelling involves drama and conflict.
