I liken Naruto to OG Dragon Ball as Shippuden to Z. Both Dragon Ball and Naruto felt grounded where it was about fighting and taking down the bad guy and nothing really becomes too world ending until towards the end of Dragon Ball with Piccolo. The stakes are always like the village or the area they’re in, not the world. When Z and Shippuden roll around, it’s immediately established that the villains they’re dealing with have the capability to destroy the entire universe as they know it if not dealt with. While those stories make for bigger moments, the grounded story of the OG counterparts of both shows make for more compelling character development and less times where they feel like they’re jumping the gun.

Am I making this comment with a bias. Yes. Cause I really like Tokyo Revengers. I read the entire manga in a day (up to the chapter that was out at the time). And imma be real. I think most people don't get what Tokyo Revengers is about. Like flat out most people I see complaining dont get what the purpose of Takemitchy is and why he is how he is. I think it you read the manga he would come off way different versus if you're only experiencing the story through the anime. Which is still only on season 2 not three. And Nick I know u don't have the time but if you ever so please check out the Manga I think it would be a better experience for you than the anime. I think being able to go through Tokyo Rev at a faster pace works way better. Like Takemitchy is one of my favorite MCs. My friends who have read the manga all like or love him. And the only people I know who don't like him. Are anime onlys

Ok so the problem with Tokoyo Revengers is that the MC starts out as a winey bitch boy who's scared of everything and has no selfconfiendce. He then travels back in time and improves himself a bit but then once he goes back to the future for the first time he's still way more of a wimp than he should be and then "Spoiler" happens. He then needs to go back in time to fix that and he say's he'll do everything he can to fix everything and save his gf but once he's back in the past he makes one minor single attempt to fix the problem and then just does genuinely nothing for the rest of the season and all he does it keep complaining about how he's "tried everything" and nothing is working. He's genuinely tried nothing and he's just an incredibly irritating and plot written character. He does absolutely nothing in the story unless everything in his universe forces him to plot armor his way forward. And then like you mentioned it's just a bait and switch and the future is still messed up (and not in any logical or realistic kind of way) and he just has to go back and be useless towards his goal at every plot point possible. He is genuinely one of the worst written MCs inside a story that could actually be decent. Because of him I completely dropped the serise after the end of Season 2.

listening to non-Tokusatsu fans talk about Tokusatsu like Ultraman and Super Sentai is so weird, but I can definitely say the draw of Tokusatsu shows isn't totally the fights, it's the characters. Kamen Rider and Ultraman have shown me more well-written characters than almost anything else.

In my opinion, the issue that Tokyo Revengers has with being repetitive stems from the fact that the set up for it kinda forces it to be like that. The entire idea is that the main antagonist, Kisaki Tetta, manipulates everything behind the scenes and because of that issues and new bad guys will keep popping up so long as Kisaki lives and Takemichi will not be able to save the future and his friends. Takemichi, no longer able to travel to the future anymore is now on his last try and has vowed to kill Kisaki and the new bad guy. I hope this breaks the pattern that the show established for itself, because I genuinely like the show. Also a lot of people shit on Takemichi cuz he can't fight and damn those annoy the shit out of me. I'm not trying to start arguments because I know that a lot of people wanna see a strong MC, but it's season three. This has been a thing since season 1 and if you can't see that this just isn't that kind of show, yet keep willingly watching it and complaining about the main character, you are either torturing yourself by consuming media where you dislike the MC, or just doing it to complain because you have nothing better to do. If you're watching for the good side characters, that's fair. However, if you dedicate 23 minutes of your week to watch an episode from a show you dislike and complain about it afterwards, there's something wrong with you.

The thing is. I watched every episode, I wait for these to come out weekly like the rest of the weebs. I chuckle to things like “strong vertebrae on that kid” These episodes are one of my weekly highlights through life. CAN DANNY STOP SAYING LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE. It is so much. “It’s like, when like, and this happens. But it’s just so like” And of course. I listen to you for almost a year CONSISTENTLY so of course. Im gonna have gripes. But if I could take a shot for EVERYTIME dmot says “like” I will have alcohol poisoning 10 minutes into any episode. But, at the end of the day.? I wake up happier these episodes are here than I go to bed depressed knowing I have to wait another week for the next episode.

I like how crazy nick gets with JJK theories, he is proof that if you like something enough you will lie to yourself😂 Yuji was on the brink of death/turning into sukuna when toji killed dagon, it would not make narrative sense to have him eat nor for hin to have the power to copy what he eats, it would be too similar to Yuta’s ability. I feel like he has made a point to make every ability unique, it would be weird for the mc’s ability to be so similar to another. Btw Danny is correct about the FPS ability, they have to plan it on their head and if they dont abide by their plan they get frozen thats why they have the line about this ability being perfect for Naobito since he is a strategic genius, not many would be able to use it like he does.

Noabitos power is pretty broken because it essentially forces you to adhere to rules that you aren't able to adhere to. It's like saying both of us have to run a 9 second 100 metre, but only he can so you are fucked. Problem is, and I kinda hate when mangaka do this, they introduce the power in the one instance where the opponent can adhere to those rules which sucks because the in story success rate is zero😂
