The Ult she pulled off at the end of the episode - was really a homage to the climactic scene in Nausicaa (Warriors of the Wind) useful terminology: Animation peg bar (or just peg) is the magic talking tool that holds the animation paper in place on top of a light desk. In western animation studios, pegs are usually positioned at the bottom, and paper is flipped from there while the animator looks from above. But in most Asian studios - they use the Top Peg method as shown here, and animators flip the paper looking from below. An X - Sheet - is like a vertical xcel sheet but contains the break down for every frame in a given animation clip - the was the annotation pages we were seeing in overlaid on her BG while she was performing her ULT, and sometimes while her Summon was on the field. Lineart - is the general term for unrendered, usually first draft pencilwork of an animation sequence. So we were seeing her summon in "Lineart"

I’m not gonna lie I came in to the show thinking it was just a throwaway show having it play in the background while I did some things and next thing I know I’m watching it pretty invested in it. The first episode was amazing. I don’t know how it’s gonna continue to go, but the first episode definitely surprise me and got me interested in it! The visuals look really good to me I don’t know maybe it’s just my TV

I still have no idea what is happening. After a short time in this world does she wake up and bring her inspiration to the waking world and figure out the storyboarding? I will keep watching.

I'm much more interested in the show after the first episode than I was going into it. I was giving the show a chance but I wasn't particularly interested in watching a workplace series about an animation studio. Having a protagonist who gets iseakaid into their favorite piece of media and then given the ability to rewrite what happens and experience it first hand is a really cool concept.

Six minutes into the first episode and my first thought was "Lost another artist to MAPPA..." EDIT: I'm calling it now, in the final episode she's going to wake up in the hospital after getting her stomach pumped, and everything we saw was her trippin' _balls._

It depends who I am when I get there, like in your pick are you Issei and you’re all talk & too scared to do anything? Like if I go to the world of Berserk am I Guts, or am I myself and I get killed in 5 minutes? If I’m myself but a normal person in the world then I’d go to the world of “Made in Abyss”, looking down into that pit would be absolutely incredible, even working as a cave raider on the top few levels would be great. If I could be myself but be a mage then I’d go to the world of “The Witch & the Beast”, I absolutely love the magic system in that world, and being able to travel between different worlds on the elevator would be amazing, going to the vampire world would be so cool. If I can be the actual main character then I’d go to the world of “How to Build a Dungeon” and be Aur. Or I’d go to the world of “Worlds End Harem Fantasia” and be Arc, either one, because unlike Issei in DXD I actually get some action there, and with a lot more of them.

That was certainly an interesting show. But I feel I've like seen this somewhere before. Welp, I'll see how many episodes before I get bored. There's ALWAYS the possibility I get bored.

Before anyone reading this has to say this here’s my response to this: you do know that not every anime is going to have ecchi or ultra-violence in it, right? It’s not a requirement. But I digress, if someone wanted to talk about this topic, then sure they can take a look at the larger picture of all the anime the MAPPA studio has animated/produced recently. THEN one can maybe draw that type of conclusion about MAPPA, instead they provide no pre-context/data for why they’re making claims like this. We’re here just watching a video that is just some first-impressions about a single random episode, from a new anime original animated by MAPPA. It would be a more fulfilling/meaningful comment if they had actually provided some circumstantial data, which would then give some basis for making this, essentially, off-topic comment.

@@Those2menoverthere I never said I agreed with him or I understood why he thought this, just that the comment itself was fine & was relevant, as you said it had nothing to do with the video. I agree with you, seeing one anime is not proof that’s what the company is thinking. But it’s not just ecchi or violence that would be censored, there’s tons of things they censor now, from characters design & identity, relationships, things in Japanese culture that progs find offensive, that isn’t offensive, the list gets longer every day, it’s why I stick with manga & don’t watch a huge amount of anime.

I didn’t understand how the monster she drew fit into the story, the theme, or the world. If she can just draw just anything, that seems too OP and not in a good way. I would like if she was limited to something that would fit and not just a deus ex machina.

How do you defeat such a hall of monsters? It doesn't "fit", there's no meaning, it's just a practical solution to kill those monsters. She is an otaku, she came up with a solution from an anime she watched that had a similar scene. It's the famous God Warrior from Nausicaa, and the famous scene that Hideaki Anno animated. There's nothing more to think about.

Thr hype for me is the fact that it's an Original anime with no source material, and very different ideas mashed together. It has potential and the best thing is that we have to watch it till the end to find out. Unlike adaptations where you go into them knowing EXACTLY where it is going.

It was trash. Sorry, but that first episode did not sell the anime for me. I'm even wondering what's happening the entire time. If they were to just do the setting about anime industry like shirobako did but more on animating, it would've been interesting.
