Welcome to Hubbard’s Journey. Today we are visiting Otaru which is our last port in Japan on the Carnival Luminosa. Otaru, a port city on Hokkaido which is Japan’s northernmost island. The city is known for its glassworks, music boxes and sake distilleries. It lies northwest of the city of Sapporo which is the capital of this island and that city is famous for Sapporo Beer, skiing and the Sapporo Snow Festival.
We were thinking of hiring a taxi to go to the Sapporo Beer Museum but the ride is about a 45min ride and to be honest the day was a bit cold & rainy and we were all ready for a more relaxed day. So we decided to head out on foot and see what the city of Otaru had to offer including seeing the Otaru Steam Clock in action, the Tanaka Sake Brewery Tour & Tasting. And walking around the town to see some beautiful glasswork, music boxes & antiques, chocolates, a bit to eat for lunch and of course a beer or two!
So come along with us as we explore the city of Otaru. And for more of our adventures in Japan check out these other ports of call…
