I love these hataka lacquer paints. The only “acrylic” paints I use now are Tamiya XF. I use Mr Color levelling thinners with the hataka and it’s awesome stuff.

They are very nice, although they need a good stir after not being used for a while. Since you like Tamiya paints, I can recommend their new lacquer range to you. They are a very nice and easy lacquer paint to work with. Dan

I had a bad experience with Hataka Acrylics. I just couldn't get them to spray, they dried far too quickly inside the airbrush. Even with the recommended ratio of thinners and even with drying retardent, which is a shame as I've seen people working with them fine and they seem to have a fantastic range of colours. I want to give them a proper try. I might try their lacquer range though, but until then I'm sticking with Mr Hobby (both Gunze and Lacquer range) and Tamiya.

I'm hearing you Fraser as that was my experience with their acrylics too. Thankfully as you point out there are many choices out there, so you nee dent use Hataka again if you choose. That said, since Hataka came good and replaced my paints with the newer lacquer ones and they were so good, I thought it only fair I mention that and their support to me as a customer on the channel. You don't see that level of customer service often these days.

@@DansModelBench Indeed, the best customer service that I've seen tends to come from model or hobby shops. I might buy some of their lacquers and give Hataka another chance.

@@DansModelBench I also heard that the redline had its formula changed and is much much better then it used to be

@@DansModelBench Thanks for this review Dan. Like so many, I have issues with their inconsistent red line. I mailed Hataka some weeks ago and unfortunately I have not had great service. I didn't even get an acknowledgment of my mail. Seems that the 'great' service only applies to people who run youtube channels ☹️. I'll probably give Lifecolour a try.

I must be living in a cave. Never even heard of this company. Nice of them to make good.👍

They kind of made a splash a few years ago now, but its easy to have missed them. There is so many products and brands now in our hobby, it gets confusing at the best of times. :)

FYI: a KZbin channel 'unboxing cam' is reposting your tamiya HG airbrush review video as theirs. All the best.

Hey k wong, thanks so much for giving me the heads up on that. I put that one out years ago under creative commons, so they can repost that, although they are supposed to give attribution to me. I'll chase it up. Appreciate you taking the time to let me know. Dan

No probs, all the best to you. Just do a ' tamiya airbrush review' search, should be 3 to 4 videos down from yours.

Well, now I feel sold out. I use their acrylics (with satisfaction), but apparently they themselves recommend their laquers? Nice !

I really liked the colour reproduction of the first lot of acrylic Hataka paints I had, but they just had something wrong in the mix and sprayed poorly and were grainy. Sounds like you've got the newer ones and very glad you are enjoying using them. I'll give the acrylics another shot when the time is right.
