Though qualified to become a Mason as both my father and grandfather were master masons,, at 77 years of age I feel it’s a bit late to begin the journey especially given the circumstances of my life at this point. But I truly appreciate your work and your willingness to share your insights into the Masonic community and its history. One thing you might point out is that Masons are still just individuals and imperfect men who while on a journey have not reached their potential destination. While perfection can be a goal, it is rarely actually achieved by mortals.

I have wanted to be a mason since I was 15, when I was 19 and had my petition but was saving money to submit I got arrested. Is there any way I can ever join? Record expungement? Any way to join other than record expungement if I can’t achieve that?

It really just depends on the governing body of the area. Such as I'm Mason in Arkansas. The Masonic organization of Arkansas has a zero tolerance policy. Other states seem to be a little bit more lenient. And like the previous statement says it just really depends on the nature of the crime misdemeanors aren't held against you what felonies are.

Not a mason, forbidden in my church; Even when I do my research on whether the ban is justified or not (Probably is based on continental masonry being really bad), I dont feel it worth debating the church to join the fraternity. Irregardless fascinating and inspiring stuff, just wish we had our own Knights of Columbus so this topic became less alluring to me.

Freemasonry is a fraternity that prizes integrity and morality, despite what your church will tell you. A good question. I'm not aware of any Islamic orders. I did some looking around and unfortunately came up with the same sort of inaccurate, inane and false commentary that is all too common. I'm from Scotland I worked as a joiner on building sites had friends who were Mason's but they weren't from my area and was never asked to join I have always had an interest in the history my age 72yr in my area not many people go to the local lodge I not sure if it's still open
