Having owned a v8 hq ,many thumbs up to the suspension guys, the noise and black lines are impressive but only people who drove those things stock will know the miracles that car is performing on corner entry!. Bravo gentlemen!.

Absolutely LOVE IT what a cool looking Monaro & it goes hard, driven hard. This kind of event is so cool & a wonderful way to see high performance mock ups from a great era in Australian automotive history, being pushed a little looking & sounding fantastic. This high performance car driving makes sense, a lot more than doing "skids" on a "burnout pad" or "power cruise" till their tyres pop & thinking their great. Love the Targa & Adelaide Classic events, so good we have them.

adjust the nut on the steering box to make it point is easy and yeah it's bouncy and oversteer like all the rest

Nope. 🤦🏼‍♂️ He is _not_ mashing the pedal, because he _does_ give a fuck. He was showing good/great throttle control. That's the main reason why he was so fast. If he was a dopey meat-head, just mashing the pedal and getting off to squeally tyre noises, that Q would've been going backwards off the bitumen, at almost every bend.

Came across this link after watching the daily highlights of the 2021Targa. That HQ Monaro is superb-looking and sounding car, and it's beyond me how he can throw that beast around those roads. The introduction of the HQ was an exciting time in Oz automotive history. Just compare its design with what came immediately before!

It honestly sucks knowing that by the time I am old enough and financially stable enough, that finding a Monaro for a project car will be near impossible. Will always LOVE the sound and looks of these cars and many other V8 Holdens. Wish a company would design more cars to look like this again, even with following the V4/6 turbo trend for fuel efficiency.

Bought my first HQ GTS when I was 18 for $5,000. Sold it as wreck 4 years later (I tore out the entire front end crossing a creek line). Bought my second HQ GTS when I was 26 for $3,500. Sold it for $2,800 6 years later. My 3 growing kids had trouble getting in & out of the back seat.... I have just turned 61 and I still dream of number 3. But at around $100,000, I will have to win Lotto first...

HQ Monaro's always look Best in Orange. Looks and Sounds Really Nice. Obviously Highly Modified, otherwise it would've Ploughed into the kerb on the first corner. Pretty snappy gear changes so it's got a nice box in it. Responds well to a Kick in the Guts, and he drives it well. Good Show.

Agreed 'watsisbuttondo829' . I owned a HQ coupe back in 1982 . My Dad built engines and had a 308 ci L34 spec motor under a workbench sitting idle . We built it up and slipped it in , did the usual suspension upgrades ( this is 1982 ) and it was awesome . However , after pushing it to the ton two or three times in a row with the brake fade would set in . I was such a clown ! Steve and Racheal have realised my dream , your car is amazing and your skill set pushing it is obvious . By the way , is that an Aurora engine your running ?
