+ImWhereImAt Yup and it was all in good fun. I think the farm in the first part of the video was Otis' actual farm and he liked to spend his little bits of off-time there living the simple life with his family... the flashy stuff was just for show biz.

Probably not. Before Otis died, Jim Stewart of STAX signed a horrible contract with Jerry Wexler of Atlantic. Jim, being a Southern Man, was going to do a handshake deal, but Jerry wanted it legalized. So he drew up a contract, and Jim signed it without reading it. The contract said that he was basically signing over all of STAX’S catalog to Atlantic for them to distribute and for them to keep forever. It was truly the worst contract of mankind, and Otis probably didn’t even know that Jim signed that deal. After Otis died, Atlantic wanted the masters of Dock of the Bay and all of his other work, and that’s when Jim realized his awful mistake

This is astonishing. I have never seen it before tonight, and I have loved Otis Redding since I was six. I estimate that I have sung My Lover's Prayer, Chained and Bound, Pain in My Heart, Dreams to Remember, and especially I've Been Loving You Too Long (to stop now) 10,000 times easch. Loving You Too Long maybe 100,000 times. In the 20th century, only the Beatles topped Otis Redding, and had he not been cut short, he might've topped them, over time. He is plainly and unquestionably the greatest American recording artist ever. An immeasurable, incalculable loss to America and the world. We are left with dreams to remember, of you.

I love how u address ur label, Otis Redding, showing them u clearly don't need them. that's fair. I dont like how they replied, that *wasn’t*. to say the least. May you rest in peace, In Christ, Otis Redding, In Jesus, Amen and Hallelujah. Thank you for the "Dock of the bay", which they didn't even change in the end, they kept your whistling at the end, the same they didnt like in the first place. They saw u stood ur ground. They just couldn't have u be doing ur own thing or anyone. A very powerful black man in the 60"s who died.. accidentally... while disagreeing with his label on his second album, the dock of the bay, a man who *clearly* could do it without them at the time, having his own record, label, private jet, cash... 1967, the year he died.. . .... ..... . ...... . ... . Do u see it ?
