Ott’s Garage | When To Use Rocco

The Rocco reminds me of an old school hand made balsa square bill I use to throw back in the 1970's in East Tennessee when a lot of people were trying to make similar to the Big O. That bait was called a Perky Bait and I caught a lot of bass on it. I have a feeling I'll have success with Rocco too!!!

Just finished putting the Rocco's I got for Christmas in the tackle box. Had to admire them for awhile on the mantle lol! God Bless! Can't wait for the BPT MLF season to start! Go get that AOY you so deserve!

Ott, I am loving your line of OG’s and I just finally got a few Rocco’s in my favorite Rapala colors, so now I have dozens of OG’s. I’ve been a Rapala fan for over 50 years thanks to my Dad who used them in the 50’s and I can’t wait for my Bass clubs (2) season to kick off and Win enough to buy more🤩😂😂😂🍀🎣🍀💯

There are tons of square bill crankbaits out there. The Rocco may be good enough to stand out from the other baits. I can't wait to try it.

Would Rocco be similar to a 1.5 squarbill as far as diving depths and where you'd fsh it? I noticed its little different profile. Looks like it's between an OG and a 1.5. Thanks

Yes. Very similar to a 1.5 but since it’s balsa it’s better!

Not sure if you guys have the same issue I have pros are like sure throw it right in there and it will bounce right out .. Well here goes well shit look at that hung up like hell .. There went 10 bucks .. Maybe I just ain't that good yet lol

I fish from the bank and they usually means bringing a crank into trees vs out of them if you have a boat and that makes them snag more. I would suggest throwing a something weedless through first and feel out where the snags are before you use your crank bait.

Firetiger Craw or very close to that.

Lipless cranks and jerk bait for sure. Slim would be a good option. These all for off shore grass. Some fish could be spawning by then too so wacky worm and sight fishing as well.
