OTT Tune 3rd Gen Tacoma

I’m keeping my TRD Off Road fairly stock. I’ve already added a K&N intake and will be adding an AFE 3” exhaust, but I’ll keep the tires the same size with different wheels. I drive within 5 mph of the speed limits most of the time, but when I have to go to Seattle or Montana, I’ve got some steep passes to go over, so I turn the ECT power mode on, but normally I’m in regular mode. I want a LOT of power when I’m passing someone on 2 lane mountain roads. So which setting should I choose for the OTT? We live in a very mountainous area of north central Washington state. 3 hours to Seattle and 3 hours to Spokane.

I’d go with a Mild throttle. You could talk to your tuner and come to an agreement if your not 💯 satisfied with your throttle because is too peppy than you could go with lighter throttle or up 1… My tuner Paul was willing to work with me. 💪🏼

@@eluv201 My closest Tuner is in Idaho, so it’s at least a 4-5 hour drive one way. Portland Oregon is 6 hours one way. It’s too bad that there isn’t one in Wenatchee, Washington. That’s only a half hour drive. There’s a LOT of 4WD vehicles in our location, just because of our terrain. 40% of the vehicles here are Subaru’s. There’s a LOT of Toyota’s. OTT would do very well in our area. Heck, I’d Love for someone to teach me how to download the program onto other vehicles. It would supplement my SSI very much.

I'm scheduled sometime in January 24 (waiting for tunner to confirm the date), great video. Question: What do most people get? I have a 23 TRD sport, I do primarily city driving... I admit it, my truck is a pavement princess lol

Great question, it all depends though. If you have front and rear bumper mods and bigger tires and you feel like it’s gear searching constantly definitely get medium spicy. If you don’t have any mods but you feel like you want to be the first off the line lol get medium spicy, it’s fun. But if you just want your truck to feel like when you first came off the lot before you modified it then go with light. You can always change it. I was also able to have the tuner Paul delete that annoying beeping sound it makes when you’re not wearing your seatbelt. He threw it in there for free 😉 Love it

Love the OTT!! No regrets with the Mild/Med setting, before and after the re-gear. Plenty of power. I also wonder if there is a difference depending on sea level.

Here too, no regrets with the Spicy though I haven’t crawled with it yet but assuming it might need to be tweaked. Density altitude plays major role in performance especially for cars with turbo. I’m sure it makes a significant difference when going from 6000’ down to sea level regardless of engine type. Would be cool to test 🤘🏽

My 2wd trd sport constantly looking for gears. Only way it drives better is with the ECT pwr on. Is the OTT recommended for the 2wd ?

If I change my exhaust. Air intake and coils. Will I still benefit from a tune.

Yes you will still need the low end torque to get those wheels moving. It’ll definitely make it that much more efficient with replacing your parts though. Make sure you talk to your tuner about that 🤙🏼
