Found a replica in the trash, imprinted on a rough, wooden edged frame in Brooklyn, NY. I hung it on the wall in my place, and there it stayed for a decade +.

I love this painting, it has always reminded me of my Grandfather who I loved very much. I have always found the painting very comforting. The guy looks like he's sizing you up for some Halberd action.

Thanks . Now I can see what the rest of the painting looks like . Mine is a really dirty old oil on canvas . I can only see his helmet and face . Didn’t even know about the feathers ? Lol. The frame is the reason I kept the painting , it’s beautiful.

When as a boy in Venezuela, fatherless and penniless (family suffered bankruptcy at my father's desk) a poster of 'Him' hanged over my bedroom wall. ... he enraptured my hesitant soul to leap beyond its mortal coil encasing - and Conquer! ... To see the hidden Magic in life, and sail it's winds. Now I have several degrees in engineering and a Ph.D. in economics, and living in he U.S. pursuing a promising start-up company as well.

We had a copy of this painting above our fireplace for most of my childhood. As a child, I remember the lighting of the fire making this print come to life. I thought whoever this man was in this painting was the keeper of our house. He watched over us. I often wondered who this man was. I guess it is still a mystery.

Who ever the artist was,...and I hope one day he is known if it's not Rembrandt. This is a breathtaking albeit quite sinister and moody,...masterpiece. I have a beautiful framed copy in my hallway. I've told my old soldier to keep guard at my front door. That's where he's positioned, by chance. A very good place for this fine fellow to reside. The picture always engages me,...stops me in my step for some time. Pure Brilliance!

This painting was inspired by don Quixote de la mancha , popular book from the 1600 , in the book the crazy old man wears a golden helmet and thinks hes a noble warrior

That is Captain Diego de Villarreal that is my ancestor and he owned a silver mine in Nuevo Leon Mexico

I picked up a beautifully framed print of this today at a yard sale for .50¢. I held it for 5 minutes deciding if I should buy it. After I told the lady I'd take it she said "it took you that long to spend .50¢?". I said "I didn't care what the cost was, I was deciding if I wanted this guy staring at me in my man cave for years". He's ticked at something, probably at the millenials of his day.
