HELLO BINGO'S SERVANTS : I think the reason he does not want to go into the bath tub is because it is white, and he cannot see where the bottom, or the sides are. Otters eyesight are known to be quite short sighted, and they have a problem judging distances without any reference points to guide tthem. He has no problems going into the blue paddling pool does he ? If you get something to line the bottom of the bath that is the same colour as the tub - blue, or even green colour, I am sure he will go into the bath tub. Something like a waterproof table cloth, or vinyl floor mat, anything where he can see the bottom and the sides properly, and judge for himself the depth will be better for him. Especially if it has a pattern - like small mosaic tiles, or rocks even, would be fine. If you throw some toys or food into the water when he sees the new lined bath tub I am sure he will enter and swim. Good luck !!! I and my other feline companions like to sit and watch your antics with my human servant, and often we tap the screen with our paw to say "hello" as we want to join in and play, but our human servants do not like this for some reason, and stops us. From Sherlock the cat.

100% spot on. Its the same with snakes and hedgehogs. Most of the time, once they learn how to float on their back, you won't be able to get them out of the water. Humans have the same issue as well. But our man focus comes from the understanding of how to look UP! and now down towards the bottom.

I disagree. Seeing their progress with Bingo from no water, to a little tub, to a bigger tub, & now Bingo is investigating the bathtub, it looks like the gentle approach is working. 😊 In the wild they have to theow them in the deep end because they don't have time to let them figure it out slowly. Bingo has the luxury of learning slowly & carefully, why take that away from them? In fact you could say it is a fascinating look into otter psychology that you wouldn't get to see in the wild which benefits not only Bingo but also any viewers who find it interesting & illuminating to see this behaviour.

You can see at his bodylanguage that he is almost there to jump in. That was a very good idear of you to fill the bathtube completely and put a plastick box in it so he can get out very easily. I really think that that will help to come over his fear. Maybe put a toy in the water next time..maybe he will jump right in then ..( and maybe right away out also..:) but it would already a very big step for him to only jump in. About the time he will find out that nothing is going to happen with him if he jump in ...and that will be the start to the next little step. You have no idear how much fun it is to see how you helping Bingo trying to come over his fear of water. This kind of video s are the best. And it sounds stupid but i know that the moment i see Bingo jump in the bathtube i will drop tears of happines. I really had the idear that he would already jump in in this video and that made me really emotional. In my head i was hoping and cheering..come on Bingo..come on..you can do it! It is so cute that an otter has fear for water. But i am sure that everything will be alright at the time and how much fun he will have than in your bathtube... But he has already a lot of fun because he seems a very happy otter and that cute sounds he make..really adorable. Thank you so much for sharing xxx
