I personally use the Comply foam ear buds. I also had one that wouldn't hold a charge after about a year but a call to customer service, sending them in, and getting a new one in return. They're so light that I really don't notice them. I haven't tried any other in-ears (like any of the walkers, Caldwell, axil, etc) but another I hear great things about is the 3M TEP-200 (EEP-200 is the "tactical" one you can tether into a team radio). I got these cause I wear glasses which already break the seal over over-ear muffs, and then shooting rifle really breaks that seal.

I will pick up some of those Comply foam buds and see if I like them better. Thanks for the feedback! And thanks for watching.

The aftermarket foam tips are mandatory. They make all world of difference.

+1 for the Comply ear foam.

Thanks for this overview. Very informative and i feel like i don't even need to read the instruction manual now lol. I am strongly leaning towards getting a set of these. One question. I already suffer from some hearing loss and I'm trying to preserve the rest of it as much as i can. Have you ever seen anyone use both the in-ear and over-the-ear sets at the same time? Is that ridiculous?
@SPG1Tactical9 ай бұрын
I have seen quite a few people use in-ear protection along with over the ear. Though usually not both electronic. There are some systems (though expensive) like the ops core amps that are designed with both in ear and electronic. Most people do something like foam in the ears and electronic over the ear. But I'll do some testing with the Ottos and some over the ear electronic and see how that goes.

This is probably one of the best reviews I've seen on these ear buds. A long term perspective is great.

Easily my favorite ear pro. Work got these for me back when they were $380 on Amazon. That was 3 years or so ago. Get the aftermarket Comply foam tips for them. They make a massive difference. My other set of ear pro are Soundgear Phantoms. Free through Fed Bc/Bs. Normally $1500. As cool as they are, I like the simplicity and durability of the Otto’s better. They also protect better, especially with the pro foam tips. Of course the Phantoms are more comfortable because they’re custom molded to my ears. Granted, I got the Otto’s for free. Would I spend $400+ out of my own pocket? Most likely.

I have in the ear hearing aids as I have hearing loss in both ears. I am looking for hearing protection that will give me hearing protection and enhance my hearing. One of the things you mentioned was the enhanced hearing was too loud for you. I am looking for mainly hearing protection while I rifle hunt deer and pheasant hunt but I want to hear sounds around me. I want hearing protection, but due to my hearing loss I want enhanced hearing. Do you think these would work? Thanks for the feedback.

Just bought a pair but im hearing ringing, is there a reason for this? I get passive sound but also high pitched ringing that isnt my ears
@SPG1TacticalАй бұрын
@@erogeoverlord6528 i personally have not had this issue. Have you tried different ear pieces to see if there is feedback happening? If you can't get rid of the ringing, definitely check in with their customer support.

Do these cut out upon loud noises? Or do they properly duck only the loud to a safe level while retaining anything within safe levels normal, similar to sordins?
@SPG1Tactical6 ай бұрын
The second. These never just "cut out". They reduce the loud noise to hearing safe levels. As an example, if I close my car door while at the range, I can still hear the impact of the car door, but it's muffled. And there is no crazy lag time between a noise impulse and being able to hear voices again.

These have an 18 month warranty which seems pretty low for the price of these. People have complained about the battery losing its strength a couple years in and the battery is not replaceable. With the chance of these going out or the battery dying after 18 months I just cant justify buying them.
