I love this phrase "iron and blood" as gloomy as it is, it describes the second half of the 19th century perfectly, and even gives a peak at what would come in the new century.... There is a reason, why Bismark is still held in pretty high regards in Germany today, even tough most parts were by no means prussian. For James' inevitable lies video: That poland at 6:36 looks a little anachronistic and I think it might be valuable to clear up what a "prince" in the HRE is

For the record just in case anyone didn't realize -- this Austrian emperor, Francis Joseph I, was the same Franz Joseph who was on the throne when WWI began. He almost personally held the entire Austro-Hungarian Empire together from the dawn of revolution until the day of his death.

I only recently found this channel, but I LOVE what you guys do. As a student of politics and history, I've always found this type of content to be engaging and interesting. Moreover, the narrator does a wonderful job of juxtaposing his obvious excitement regarding the content, and a non-biased platform to present the information. before this series I was fascinated by Bismark. I saw him as a brutal and efficient leader that would stop at nothing to achieve his ends. With that perspective, this series, which examines his actions on a microlevel I was previously unable to view, Bismark has become even more fascinating to me.
