Otyughs are my favorite garbage-eating creature in the Monster Manual. They don’t bother anyone who isn’t bothering them and otyughs eat their considerable weight in refuse, carrion, and rotting material each day. Nature typically has a process to clear away rot, but what happens when your world is fantastical and lacks certain types of bacteria, fungi, or scavengers that help keep the ecosystem clean? Otyughs!
