1-No matter how many times I see this scene, I still find it very heartbreaking. She was never a monster, but they turned her into one, because they didn't understand her well. 2-I wish the series had given us a glimpse of her after death, I know that was never going to be possible, but it would have been nice to show her in a restored relationship with her sisters in the afterlife.

+fanastywarriorvang77 I would say more of a question of " intent" . Ingrid, here, had murderous intents, which fueled her magic. Emotions fuel their magics. Whilist Elsa acted out of fear, without a proper target in mind, her powers were most probably much weaker than Ingrid's, who acted out on purpose to KILL.

Even though the scene still would have ended tragically, Helga should have really cemented just how much she really is like her niece Anna by slugging by the duke right in his face while she was giving him the telling off that he rightly deserved. One thing about Anna, while she might be a princess and a lady, you go after her sister even threateningly, well just ask Hans who probably can’t even see out of his eye that she hit. Helga was still very badass though and that fact that she stuck by her sister side & never wavered one little bit right up until her death (& even in death she probably held no will towards Ingrid whatsoever) proves just how much that she not only loved her, but also believed in her. Like Anna she was a true sister

I think he should have been more of a straight up villain there, not quite like here (not lecherous) but more cold and calculating, and only doing embarrassing things sometimes. Ingrid didn’t kill Helga on purpose, if you look closely when Ingrid tried to hit Duke with her powers, the Duke literally pulled Helga on the way, letting Ingrid kill her own sister, and then running away like nothing had happened. it’s obviously the Duke’s fault, not Ingrid’s

I thought that this scene made no sense. Let me explain. 1. Helga froze really quickly. In the actual movie, Anna slowly froze over and that took more than a whole day. First, her hair turned white, then she became too cold, then she attracted ice, then she froze. 2. In the actual movie, Anna was revived by an act of true love, being her sister's hug. That happened after she was frozen. With that hug and Elsa's tears, she was unfrozen. 3. In the actual movie, when Anna froze and Elsa hugged her, she stood strong. In fact, when Hans brought a sword down on her fingertips she didn't break yet Helga shattered into thousands of tiny pieces within a soft touch by her sister.

While Elsa only wanted to use her magic to make Anna go away, Ingrid's magic here was meant to be more of an attack against the Duke, making it much stronger because Ingrid was more angry and hurt. And with "Marian" (aka Zelena in disguise), Ingrid didn't intend for that to be a magical attack either. Plus in Frozen, Anna froze in the middle of a cold, stormy blizzard while Helga got struck in the heart on what looks to be a spring or summer day so I'm sure the weather also plays a factor into their ice magic as well

Helga died pretty faster than Anna & why? That's because: Helga got hit by Ingrid *directly* when she's closed enough, while Anna got struck by Elsa, it was in distance/far & also only hit by shock wave of ice. That's why Anna survived long enough than Helga.

Their powers are activated by emotion. You're right Rea, when the Duke called her a "freak" and a "monster," I think she acted out of anger and wanted to kill the duke. But instead, Helga got in the way. The same with Emma, when the Snow Queen pushed her buttons at the police station, her powers were activated by Emma's unbridled emotions and she blew up the wall. Fear is a powerful emotion and when they cannot control their fears, then they cannot control their emotions. I also think she has no intention of killing Marian which is why she let her slowly freeze. The frozen Marian is probably a distraction for Regina because during the episode "Shattered Glass," SQ did take note that Regina's powers combined with Emma's can probably wipe her out. She is actually playing the game of chess well, make the whole town defenseless so she can rise victoriously.

I still think that my hypothesis is correct because of 2 things : First of all, As I said, stronger emotions= more power. Elsa's purpose when she unleashed her power was not to kill. Ingrid, on the other hand, used it with a killing intent, which made the attack much more deadly. 2nd of all, you can see that Marian didn't shatter instantly, suggesting that Ingrid can choose how fast the person shatters.Which means, if she intends to kill, then the person will shatter instantly, most likely.
