One of my coworkers has that Alien Eau Extraordinare. It smells really great, so now I want to buy a bottle.

Spring fragrances are so welcome after nearly a year of being in a school where I can’t wear fragrance. I’m ready for my florals ngl, especially A La Nuit ❤️ I should also just go for a full bottle of EdM since I love it so much, my mini bottle will almost certainly be emptied out by the end of this summer. And I’m definitely pulling out my beauties Ombre dans L’eau, Wood Sage and Sea Salt, and Britney Spears Curious because that one is such a winner.

Thanks for the amazing suggestions and short but sweet reviews as well.Since you first talked about eau des merveilles I was ‘surprised’ by your take and interpretation of it! Not in a bad way, don’t get me wrong, I was just amazed by different feelings we can get from the exact same thing! Of course, the notes are the notes and we do ‘smell’ the same ones, but I feel them differently. Even though it is a fragrance you could wear all year round, I wear it as my one and only fragrance in a specific period of the year. Late, almost ending summer, when is still hot and humid but you can feel things are starting to change, days are still long but are getting visibly shorter, the sun is a tiny bit lower, the skin is already tired of the sun exposure (I never tan but that is the feeling I get), the sea salt has a characteristic dry smell, the grass is burned but start growing back here and there as mornings and evenings are a bit colder. Those are the last days on the beach for people who live in countries and places close to the sea, or for those who were lucky enough to get a few last days of holidays, at the very end of August till mid September. I wear it in other periods as well, however what I feel whenever I use it is what I actually described. I cannot see winter nor Christmas, I feel a very specific summer ending period and climate in it! Amazing how our brains work!

It's the whole perfume is "subjective" thing. I work with a lady who has an AMAZING nose but we consistently smell the opposite in fragrances. It's one of the most difficult things being a reviewer...

alien eau extraordinaire is my signature scent and to me it's more suited for winter, that tiare gives it a warmth that original doesn't have. Also alien aqua chic pink bottle is gorgeous

Nice list! You know I struggle with typical spring/summer scents. I usually wear scents that are really for cool/cold weather, but that I think work well in heat, so my list goes a little something like this: Floris Honey Oud, Amouage Sunshine Woman, Amouage Beloved Woman, Amouage Epic Woman, Amouage Opus I, Vivienne Westwood’s Boudoir, Givenchy Organza, Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee, Mugler Pure Havane, Dior Poison. Add Xerjoff Al-Khatt if it behaves well in heat...I bought it recently, so it remains to be seen lol.

Same thing here in Ohio. Cold , sometimes snowing . We did get up to 55 for a couple days. Hardly any sun though. The weather here is worse than Syracuse NY. At least in Syracuse it snowed enough to do something . Here's cold slush and wet drizzle snow. Soooooo tried of the cold. Been wearing Annick's Eau d' Hadrin . Couple of AdP's Neroli ones. TdH , etc. Oh, great list Thomas . Had to bitch about the weather some. Oh, have you tried Byredo's Pulp ? Just wondering if there's similarities to Flowerhead and Pulp . I like Byredo's Bel D' Afrique . Thinking about getting the hair spray to it.
@ouch1106 жыл бұрын
I have tried pulp yes! I have a bottle, it's fun. Super green figgy juicyness. People say it's like rotting fruit but I think it's the opposite, under ripe fruit. Flowerhead isn't similar to my nose. Flowerhead is a sour juicy white floral but, onceI I get my bottle..I will wear it more and dissect it more too. :)

Try it before you buy it. I love love love it. Most of my friends detest it (hate it). One of the two bottles I own was given to me by a colleague who could not stand it. It is quite heavy and long lasting.

wangari muriithi if I like angel and alien do you think I might like it?
@wangarimuriithi87486 жыл бұрын
I love the original Alien and all its flankers, however I've never warmed up to Angel. Womanity is strong in terms of longetivity but whereas Angel and Alien are scents that can be light if sprayed sparingly, Womanity is heavy even with one spritz. Which I love (in an Alien Absolue way) not that they are similar. But share a kind of similar vibe. For those who love categorizing perfumes, this would solidly be put in the winter/night group.
@wangarimuriithi87486 жыл бұрын
Forgot to add one of my friends who dislikes this scent loves Alien but likes Angel. I know this is not helping rather makes your decision more confusing. But it's nothing like Angel or Alien.

I love this review thank you for always putting so many different kinds of perfume in this review. I love angel ou demon by givenchy it’s my signature i’m always looking for perfumes like it i love dark salty musky algae kinds of smells do you have any dark salty sea perfumes? Sel Marin is probably the fragrance that Heeley are best known for. An upscale oceanic scent that contains notes of lemon, bergamot, beech leaf, sea salt, algae, moss, seaweed, vetiver, musk, leather and cedarwood. have you smelled this ? i must try it 🌊
@ouch1106 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I don't really own any sea inspired fragrances but if you want dark sea? Go for "entre ciel et mer" by Pierre Guillame (between sky and sea) and for something truly bold? Go for Fathom V by Beaufort. It's inspired by murky water and pirate ships. It's very sea grass aquatic. :)

Hey Thomas, thanks for this. I was just wondering when you'd be reviewing the Merveille range. I suppose out of them all, Eau des Merveille would be your favourite? While I am not normally drawn to springy fragrances, I must say EdM has caught my fancy along with Nightingale. Oh and of course, Mito..so glad to have been introduced to you..you sound like you smell like Van Cleef, thanks to the galbdanum..hmm I do wonder if you are both similar. Either way I will be getting my hands on you both..one at a time of course. Awesome vid, thanks again Thomas! 🤗
@ouch1106 жыл бұрын
Hello Elaine! I've only reviewed the original Merveilles and its' nothing like mito or van cleef. They are all very different. :) Nightingale is a powdery chypre, it;s amazing. Mito...gosh it's a bright tuberose galbanum and van cleef? classic smooth and is unusual it's so hard to describe.

I feel like we have the same exact taste in fragrance!… I’m about as obsessed as you LOL… Can you recommend a good coconut fragrance? I want something fresh, I love diptique fig coconut perfume... just want something soft fresh maybe creamy little bit sweet really friendly on the nose if you can recommend? No one ever responds so I won’t expect you to but if you do that would be amazing! 😊
@ouch1106 жыл бұрын
Sure!!! Try Fils De Dieu by Etat Libre D'Orange. It's a bit weird at first (as most of theirs are) but the dry down is amazing! It's coconut, lime and rice which makes it smell a bit like a Thai curry but when it dries irt reveals a beautiful character. If you want something more edgy maybe try Elephant by Zoologist. This one has crushed leaves and sandalwood in it too. For something a bit cheaper and easier to find? Try Terracotta by Guerlain, a beautiful sunny white floral with coconut. Or finally...one of my faves....versace Crystal Noir (EDP). It's amazing!

@shaumia826 жыл бұрын
Laura Brett go through his playlist he already has some from both Le Labo and and quite a few of Penhaligons
@ouch1106 жыл бұрын
Hello! Of course...the sad fact is that, while a fragrance company can safely say "not tested on animals" it's likely that their supplier has...or...their suppliers supplier. It's a tricky one! :(
@lawsdraws6 жыл бұрын
Hey :) Yes, it's sad. I've been vegan for a while now, and it's made me really think about the cosmetics I use and try to make the transition to stuff that is animal friendly :) I will use up what I have already, but moving forward I'm looking at CF brands. I know this wont be for everyone, especially perfume lovers! But if anyone can do a bad ass review of these kind of fragrances, then YOU can! I know you've already reviewed some that fall into this category, so I will watch those

That juicy sweet thing is in EVERY Byredo I've tried and I just can NOT stand it. Ugh. Makes me hate the brand so much. And add the fact they last all of 2 seconds on me. Blah! The ELdO on the other hand sounds amaaaazing
@ouch1106 жыл бұрын
Oh really? I haven't experienced enough of them to know. I do own M/Mink though and I can tell ya....NO sweetness in there haha. Its like a crazy barnyard incense weirdness. :)
@kittymeow846 жыл бұрын
You're brave to have the M/Mink! I had a sample of that and it was way too much for me - very inky and...aggressive in a way. So I tested more Byredos today and I reckon maybe 80% have that sweetness. The stuff that is in Pulp, Bal D'Afrique, the Oliver People's one etc. I did like La Tulipe but fear it goes the way of all byredos that dont have the icky sweetness: disappears in minutes. So disappointing! I will stop whinging though and say I bought Musc Ravageur cos at least Frederic Malle can always be counted on!
