I love this move. I'm not even that advanced and I've pulled it off in both my judo randori and bjj rolls. People never see the sweep coming, then they're already on their back.

One question: I keep reading implications that this might be a combination of o uchi gari and harai tsuri komi ashi. I would argue it is not a combination, but just a setup for harai tsuri komi ashi - since the instructor clearly never intends to throw an o uchi gari in the first place. In my mind, it would just be a combination, if you really intended to throw the o uchi gari and then changed because of Uke's reaction.

I think it’s two words for the same thing really. Personally, I wouldn’t get too caught up with defining set up versus combination

what's the difference between harai and de ashi barai? looks the same to me - uhh outside footsweep i guess in english
@Boost001304 жыл бұрын
harai tsurikomi ashi is an advancing foot sweep (your sweep is going forward from your body) with Uke retreating from you. De ashi barai is a sidways sweep with uke usually advancing towards you.

harai/barai just means sweep
@aasserelzoghby67813 жыл бұрын
@@Boost00130 it is the opposite De means advancing so you take 1 foot that is in front Harai tsurikomi ashi is while moving forwards while lifting and pulling and taking both legs

@@aasserelzoghby6781 then we agree. That is what I said.

Good technique. Great Uke. But that's 99.9% de-ashi-barai. 0.1% harai-tsuri-komi-ashi.
