Ensar: At the very top of the smell, there's almost this minty green facet, like a very soft cloud of green mint that has that anesthetic property, to my nose at least, that Kinam has that is on your tongue like this caramelized lidocaine with peppermint and lemon grass kind of thing if I could say it that way. How would you say it?
Ehab: Yeah, I could see that.
Ensar: Do you get this like…almost like candy, but like this narcotic candy-green.
Ehab: Well, candy in my terminology doesn't seem right to say that about oud.
Ensar; You don't see the candy sweetness.
Ehab: No, I see the sweetness in it, but is there something that's better than candy we could say?
Ensar: You don’t think saying candy is not doing it full justice.
Ehab: Of course not because candy I think children. This is not for children. But I see what you mean about the sort of like cool mint.
Ensar: There's like a very gentle crossover between this and the Kinam we just chewed on, I find-to me.
Ehab: Yeah, I can see that. My tongue is still a little bit numb from this. It's very nice, very nice.
Ensar: I want to show you something else actually.
Ehab: After Extraordinaire, what else is there?
Ensar: Believe it or not, Extraordinaire, this is from cultivated agarwood.
Ehab: No, you're joking.
Ensar: No, I'm not joking. This is 100% organic, plantation agarwood.
Ehab: You mean cultivated planted from the beginning, from saplings?
Ensar: By people, farmers. It's not something that we went to the jungle and cut the tree down…
Ehab: And how long does it take to mature?
Ensar: These are 40 year old trees. These are like 35, 40 year old trees.

:D This is my favourite one of the one's I own (Oud Yusuf, Aroha Kyaku and Oud Extraordinaire sample). It's sublime. It should blend very well with Santal Royale. I received it as a sample last week so I purchased it yesterday. One feels like eating it; it is gourmand and more. Like Sheikh Ehab said, ''brutal does not fit with this smell.'' People who think oud is faecal etc. need to smell Oud Extraordinaire. Every artisanal perfumer should have Ensar ouds in his/her inventory. Good choice Sheikh Ehab.

@@lindastevens6926 Ensar would know best. Sandalwood is best for relaxation to my knowledge. It doesn't make sense not to buy Oud Yusuf if you know it's running out, surely one would want to get it while it's still available.

Assalamualaikum..great video explaining oud process...me myself as malaysian love un soaking agar wood oud more coz it's more likely smell the same as we were burn it on bukhoor or charcoal..more naturally multi layer smell..not overpowering unpleasant smell...that's in my own opinion though..btw great job sir..

@@hocineted7594 it is sweet, caramel, slightly dark, ripe fruit, its like a Cambodi oud. Very thick. Thickest oud ive come across and one of the best.

Sigmund Kristoffer Vatvedt it’s a pleasure to have you join us. We explain in other episodes that the Hindi tradition is unique in that the “soak” is a necessary hallmark of the oil, so soaking in this case is like fermentation in the case of sauerkraut: there’s no “traditional” Hindi Oud without the soak. We’ve soaked many runs of oil, including top Sultan Series oils, as part of the distillation blueprint. Our current practice, however, is to skip the soak altogether. Oils like White Kinam, Oud Extraordinaire and other contemporary productions are all 100% unsoaked.

Thanks for your reply! Its also for me a great pleasure to join. I laugh so much from you guys:) Thats was i thought. It would be impossible that these ouds are not soaked. I love Hindi but un soaked. Another great and deep topic would be about tobacco oud. I grow tobacco myself from seed, to harvest, curing and then fermentation. The whole process takes about one year since i live in Norway. But what surprises me is that. During this whole process, i can never detect anything that resembles something i smell in "tobacco" oud. This would be a topic for Gaharu.. Still waiting for me green card to enter:)

Another great topic that i can not find the answer to anywhere.. What is a so called " seufi" oud? For sure it has nothing to do with sufiism i think.. Why would some label an oud as "seufi" ? I know this has nothing to do with Oud Extraordinaire, but always something i think about..
