They said, "Yeah, we have a lot of this." They said, "We want this!" So they cleaned out the entire Ceylon. The entire Sir Lanka has been like…
Ehab: Harvested?
Ensar: Wiped clean, basically.
Ehab: Yeah?!
Ensar: Yeah, I mean you still find trees, but it's like…not like this.
Ehab: So they sort of stumbled upon this. It wasn't something they knew about.
Ensar: They didn't know they existed in Sri Lanka. Nobody knew. And we're talking as recently as like 2013 when this was starting to emerge.
Ehab: So the trees must have been quite old.
Ensar: Oh, the trees were centennial. The trees were centennial. I mean I've lost. I'm actually shaving this piece and heating it. That's insane. I never meant to do this. This is crazy.

Sri Lankan oud is such a gateway oud in the sense it's proof on how oud can vary in character and can be versatile and friendly. I'm also a big fan of Aroha Kyaku that at times I get small anxieties of it running out. haha I find myself wearing it every day. It's quite addictive.

In india agarwood has been used as incense probably since millenia. Our word for incense stick is agarbatti and in my native region of South kanara they are called oud batti. It is only as the demand for agarwood has gone up and made the costs prohibitive that they are being made from much cheaper ingredients. Though there are still niche incense stick makers who use agarwood powder and oils in their sticks.

Anas Ibn dawood smokey/tobacco with the initial hit and as it mellows down a deep forest aroma which becomes slightly sweeter after a few hours, very much a masculine oil.

Being an Indian I can say this with 100% confidence that not even 1% of the Indian population uses Pure Dahn Al Oudh. Most of them can’t even stand the pungent smell of Oudh oil! Even though Indian people use a lot of incense and Ayurvedic products which at times have Oudh as one of the many ingredients, people aren’t consciously aware of its bold presence in those products. It’s kinda sad, I know!

have you smelled oud , may be you have smelled hindi oud , have you burnt oud , because if you had than you did not write this , oud is is kept in water days before it distilled when kept in water its get fermented and gets that note which you are getting , its not actually oud note , also hindi oud smells different than combodi to shri lanka , all oud oil are kept in water i.e all gets same note in start , i think only many few distilled oil raw agar chips , and ensar oud does that and so does not have fermented smell to it
