125 watts continuous draw from single refrigerator 😮 I have a new 2022 refrigerator and 2020 freezer. They both draw only around 50 watts continuously. 200 watts when the compressor kicks in. 325 watts during defrost. The freezer is a manual defrost.

without having the ability to control the wattage from the phone app, is kinda of a bummer that i was looking forward to getting this, im really hoping that they will do this in the next firm-ware update! oupes, please, get that updated so customers can control the wattages via the app, incase the fuse does get blown out, from older houses, 900 watts is still a bit to much to say the least! 300 watts? i can see that they could go low as 300 watts, and having the max to its maximum! thank you!

It would be interesting to compare the cost difference on both models. The Mega 5 has a slightly bigger inverter at 4000w, so not a much bigger advantage there. The battery on the Mega 5 is a bit bigger at 5120wh. I think the portability of the Mega 3 is spot on, it can still be lifted (carefully) by one person haha

Another great review. I like the am radio interference test you do on the ac and dc. I like how your new tester can test just how fast the UPS switches over. I have never seen that before. This looks to be a solid unit from OUPES. The best feature in my opinion is the 150volts of solar input. You can run your arrays in series. I hope OUPES can get the little bugs all worked out with this one. It's a nice power station.

very nice to see the switchover time on the ossicilope. looks like 1 full sinewave missing. looks like the switchover time on your screen is 20.10ms, very nice. i believe this will make an extremely valuable tool for testing these power stations. this would be a beast for RV applications, and one could put solar on the roof of the RV to help recharge it. hopefully they address the start up issues with solar charging in the morning. very interesting thoughts on the app, i am sure companies are listening and hopefully take your comments to heart.
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 7 ай бұрын
A full sine wave is about 16.6ms from peak to peak, so just a tad longer than one full wavelength. I'm hoping for data logging eventually in these apps. That information would be very helpful :)

I wonder about the measured UPS transfer time of the some of the other units. In many of your tests the computer restarts at least once. That suggests that previous units that were rated for 20ms were likely taking longer than that to switch. I am also interested in best/worst/average UPS transfer time. It is my understanding that it can vary depending on load conditions and timing of the sine wave. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the review efforts; so much great testing, thoughts shared!! There is so much content packed into this video vs its length and the editing to go with that; wow!! A great start to Friday watching this, thank you! This part of the comment is more an overall thought from a different person and video and your comment from a recent video. On the grading sheet, perhaps change "F" to "P" for passing and leave "F" for a true failed unit. I remember you saying basically "all" units you have tested (and plan to test) have been acceptable/safe with tradeoffs. Seeing the "F" I concur with the other commenter doesn't convey that to me at least with a quick glance. I know your reasoning, so no biggie to me. Just perhaps an easy change to set yourself up for a "true" "F" if it ever comes. Ok, this part got way too long. 😢
@Jasonoid
@Jasonoid 7 ай бұрын
Some power stations I would consider a "failure" after testing due to failing many tests, but as you suggest most of them don't deserve a "F". I'll work on changing it up so that it's a "satisfactory" instead of a failure. Maybe I can use a 'S' or something. A pass would be too good for the ones that fail multiple tests.
@DYT-jx4jp
@DYT-jx4jp 7 ай бұрын
Ah, yes, "S" (or something similar) is much better than "P"!! (The original commenter might have said "S" too.) Thank you for considering and catching that!! But, maybe some units do deserve an "F" if they have a bunch of failures. I had not realized that piece. I apologize on all of this, I thought an easier change. I didn't mean to give you another thing to do. 😢😢

Excellent review. I am impressed with the DC output and solar input capability. I agree with the klunky way you have to press multiple buttons just to adjust the charging rate. That would get old real quick but overall if you could tolerate the noise it is a fairly good power station. I am not a fan of those bulkly expansion battery connections. Other power station expansion battery connections are evolving to flexible cables that does not inhibit space around it.

Appreciate the thorough testing, not sure knowing the micro seconds for the UPS is necessary, either it works or doesn't, that would suffice..But, I understand techno addicts..As I'm a self sufficiency addict, and there is some cross pollination there...I own a small unit from Oupes to run a diesel heater/ compressor fridge in my garage, and it has the same issues when plugged into solar 24/7..Sometimes it works like a clock for a week straight, and sometimes I have to unclip an MC4 cable and plug it back in to reset it, no big deal though..And I don't care about fan noise,I have lots of loud devices, not sure why that is a thing..People are in for a rude awakening.

I am interested in using this as my sole power unit for my RV. The 30 amp AC outlet, I get how to use that. What about the DC side? Can I do something like this for the DC side: Disconnect and remove the RV house batteries Connect the 12v/30 amp Output on the Oupes directly to the 12v battery connections on my RV turn off the RV charge converter (so it does not try to charge the 12v battery system) Use the Oupes to power both AC AND DC on my RV. Does that sound doable? Also, IF it can be done, are there any problems that might arise when the RV is attached to the tow vehicle via the 7 pin connector (I know the 7 pin has a change pin to try and charge the RV house battery and if the only downside is the 7 pin connector cannot charge while connected, no big deal). Thanks...great video on this unit. Really would like this unit for my RV especially if it can run both the AC and DC circuits. Oh yea, and via the "smart app"...I did not see a way to control the AC charging input...manually on the unit its only High and Low? Is that it? I have a portable Hionda 2000 generator that could input 1600 watts input. Using only 900 watts on low setting seems to be a bit of a waste.

I have a grid-tie, battery backup currently set up in an off-grid system without the panels on the roof. Basically it's a backup of about 4 days that I can charge by home or generator. I've been doing this since about 2011. This is my second set of flooded lead acid batteries. I am thinking about buying this with one expansion battery. Depending upon the response I get from you I might use your store. Have you had a chance to test the B2 battery, particularly with regards to solar input? I currently have 12x - 235 watt REC panels that are no longer on my roof. VOC is 37.4V. Impp is 7.9A. the panels are from 2011 and have about 11 years of service with the last 2 years in storage.. I was thinking of 4S/2P to maximize input voltage, maybe put the remaining four panels on the battery ... Or would it be better to put 3S/2P on each charge controller? ... With the lower kilowatt hour rating for the battery, it seems like the first set of would make sense. It would allow me to maximize the voltage with the last line loss. Let me know what you think and perhaps I can call you. I was wondering if 149.6 pushes a dangerously close to the 150 volts or do I just cover it up before I actually connected and then put it out in the morning?

I was curious if you could charge the battery and the mega pack separately via solar. I looked it up in the manual and you can do it. The battery pack has its own MPPT charge controller and they state in the manual that it can be charged separately while connected. That’s 2100W per battery if that’s the case.
