I wish you would do a vid on y we put the hardwood and Pine together. I have an 853 track machine cutting and a 2154 G with wartah 622 B. I have so many questions on why we run the pine and hardwood together. I cut mostly pine plantations , all old federal and IP land , and when a gum or two is in the plantation like a weed, it’s better to throw them in the pile with the Pine and drag it to the yard instead of leave 1 or two here and there and then the skidder has to run around everywhere trying to get a drag and leaving stragglers everywhere. I do things a lot like yal. But I had 3 437 loaders paid for and like yal, you just can’t by all this equip at one time. It takes time and planning. We have a large wood products trucking company that’s has hauled for me for over 13 years. They have over a 1000 trucks pulling wood products from out of just about every pulp and saw mill in east Ga ,SC,NC, and surrounding areas. They have 2 drop men and 4 drop trucks and over 30 empty trailers for us to load during the day. They keep usually 10 dedicated drivers with us , but after they leave here they probably go to a Woodyard to get backhauls back toward me. They have trucks that come to wadley(Battle Lumber) bringing wet yard wood to them and then come by my woods getting loads back to Savannah or meldrim to keep them from hauling air. We set up two 437s at the processor , one loads prime cut cns and sawlogs on the saw side, while he runs pulp tops , tree length pulp, hardwood pulp, and 16,6 cuts to the away side to me. Each loader has a drop truck , and trailer to load at all times so we hardly ever stack any wood, always building loads on the trailers. So I am able to get away with not having a track loader , although I would love one, just need to spend the money in other places. We use one of the 437 s as a backup or get wood loaded in case we leave a pile or you know, always a use for it. We do usually have two loader men, one being myself loading the pulp side , and the other loading sawtimber and cns and poles, but I’m 55 and it keeps me busy working with the crew. We run 25 to 30 loads a day so 2 loader men really may be overkill, but we do other things as well. You know nobody does it the same, whatever makes money and sense is what you do. Thanks Tim for your time and entertainment. I watch every vid. From middle Ga, Louisville to be exact. Long time Federal paper , Ip , land base logger. 33 years. AC

I believe the gentleman in the Tigercat 25 video that had the very first 726 said it still had the original center section. Tigercat had that figured out in 92.

Tim, you've 'stepped up your video game' somewhat....the past few are getting better and better! It appears you like Tigercat for some forestry work as I liked Caterpillar for dirt/mining construction. If you find a brand that can take the abuse, get the job done, work everyday, great dealer support, comfortable/easy to operate and good resale value you buy it, even if the cost is more, because it'll be the best/cheapest for the company in the long run!!! ....13

Hey enjoy the vids. Please explain how you sell or use the trees. Which are poles? Which is chip &saw? What do you sell the hardwood for? It seems you all cut mostly wild land...do you ever cut tree farms?
@clintonstubbs23196 жыл бұрын
That processor is an awesome machine and complicated. How big of a tree can it process? That John Deere skidder doesn't look like something that you would want to run in hills each day. Lot of lever action going on. Y'all tell me if I'm right, but Tigercat came out with joystick controls in their skidders back in 2010-2011. They had a steering wheel too but did put the grapple functions on the joysticks. Good video cotontop3.

Clinton Stubbs I ran a 666C Clark that was an 81 model. It had a right hand 4 way valve for steering and blade control. It was a cable skidder and was super easy to jump on and off of with nothing in your way.

Love watching the processor run! When it shoots a tree out, that's money in the pile and that is what it's all about. Gott'en tired of being beaten around & jerky motion of trailer loader. Mr. Tim, you have any input on the Southstar heads? Although pretty sure Waratah is the way to go.
@cotontop36 жыл бұрын
They are good heads but where u and I log, you need to stay with a waratah. Because of the dealers and the support from waratah that you can easily get.

I have a question so I know the tiger cat is a better machine. But the jd 8.1 has to be better than that fpt motor? I have a problem with fpt engines in ag anyway. Iveco engine have cost me hundreds of thousands of dollars. I’m just wondering if your having any problem?

I am sure there is a good reason and maybe money is it but the processor seems so efficient, I don't understand why every logger wouldn't have one

You are correct, it’s the initial price tag.
@06lbzduramax35006 жыл бұрын
The processor is hands down better that a loader pull through set up but for a really small logging operation like mine the loader pull through slasher combo works decent tdk does more loads in a day then I do in week so it wouldn’t be feasible for me to have a processor and track loader. It sure is fun to watch the videos and dream tho!
@presleyfaircloth95366 жыл бұрын

You guys have spoiled me. I have a crew logging on my property right now and they got some junk they working with! Small old Tiger Cat feller buncher with a worn out 548 skidder. No delimber, they just back through trees and run over the tops with skidded, lol. The oldest junky ass oil leaking knuckle boom in Mississippi loading and only one truck and they take a chainsaw and cut the tops to max overhang length by hand. They are getting it done slowly, lol. I honestly have no idea how they are making a dime. The cutter operator also loads and parts house makes daily delivers of hose, fitting and hydraulic fluid.
