You made that a very nice looking place. This 95 mobile home I'm in has a ton of work needed and the outriggers are sagging with the center hump. This place wasn't maintained. No plastic on the ground under it for over 20 years and on clay. Never dries out less than 98% humidity under there. Eventually I'll build a house to replace it, IF building materials cost and availability ever return to at least somewhat normal. I'm hoping for an economic crash in 2023. Very beneficial to the do it yourselfer. Until then I'm in this mobile home. 🤷

A great looking job and excellent attention to detail. I have been following a KZbin channel where a young couple is restoring an older mobile home. They are located in Florda and I was surprised to see that there was no sheathing on the mobile home right from the factory. The walls were constructed of 2x3 lumber (not even 2x4 s) and the metal siding was attached directly to the studs. There also was no vapour barrier between the studs and siding either. The roof trusses were mainly made out of 2x2 lumber and there was no sheathing on the roof, just galvanized metal. They had a lot of rotted wood to replace, especially around the doors, windows, and sills. This trailer will be really nice when you are finished with it. I just discovered this channel so I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your videos on this project.

I love renovating and reusing instead of disposal however, is it financial more expensive to renovate as opposed to buying new? Thank you.
@BCRenovationMagazine2 жыл бұрын
Sandra, it really depends on where you are. In our case, where we are, housing is very expensive. If you can do a lot of the work yourself it is way, way less to renovate than buy new. This home will be sold when it is done, With me doing the work, I make my profit when I sell. Whomever buys this home will buy it for less than a comparable new home, and this one will be nicer, having more custom touches than a typical new home. It just depends on the housing market in your area.

Very attentive to detail! Great job! I would recommend making sure you slope the dirt under your deck to allow the water to run out away from your home. I live in Florida and work on trailers in trailer parks all the time. They are constantly wet and moldy underneath because of 1)lack of proper airflow, and 2) lack of proper water drainage. They sink in the middle and pond up bad. Cool build!

I so enjoyed your video..I might be buying an older manufactured home so your demonstration and how-to is great for me watch..I always like to be prepared..your sconces are perfect and they are modern to give the home a new look..I do have one question and I have seen this on other homes whether stick or mobile..the deck size seems so too small for the in and out of the doors..I guess it's my preference that the decking for any door cover more distance so one doesn't feel cramped when arms are full of stuff or trying to get pets in and out..I just think the decks should at least 36" or more on each side of an entry door..thanks for the great explanations..take care!

Great job as always! Question...considering you have to go months without putting house wrap on the home, how does the rain effect the uncovered osb?
@BCRenovationMagazine2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Nick. It doesn't seem to bother it too much. OSB is made with exterior grade resins so it is somewhat water resistant. If water doesn't sit on it, like on a vertical wall, it seems to be OK. Some discoloring will occur, which you will notice on the lower part of the wall around the back door, where water splashed off the deck onto the wall, but that area remained sound.
@nicksinclair24072 жыл бұрын
Oh ok thanks...ive always wondered about that

Did you remove the metal roof? If not what did you put between the metal and plywood/osb? Or will it not sweat? I have a metal rooved mobile i would love to do this to.
@BCRenovationMagazine Жыл бұрын
Hi, Bev. The old metal roof was mostly left behind. The original metal has a layer of foam on the underside. That, combined with proper attic ventilation should prevent any condensation from occurring.

I have a ditch in front of my place but the rainwater from the street fills it, & the rainwater that comes from my house down the downspouts down the slopes after paying to have a french drain put in bc the ditch is closer to the street it fills & pushes the water back up my slope toward the house.
