In this vlog, we visited our 51st country buy going to the Vatican in the middle of Italy! We used our Italia Pass to skip the line and take a really good tour. We walked through the beautiful buildings and soaked up the history and scenery, went in the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica. We tried Rome's "cheaper" food scene for lunch and dinner, and were a bit disappointed after all the delicious meals we've been having around the city ;)

Next time you go through Rome, try the Trevi Fountain again, but try to go as late as you can. I'm talking 11pm. That is when all the of the local people go hang out there. Last time we were in Rome, we hung out by the fountain for about 45 minutes and saw at least 3 Italian couples get engaged! So fun!

I took my girlfriend (now wife) there at 1 am, because as a Roman, it’s the only time we could get the Trevi fountain to ourselves on a lucky day :)

Tip: if you want to escape the crowds, visit Rome in early December. The weather is fairly mild, warm enough to eat and drink outside (plus the restaurants have portable heaters if it gets chilly). There are virtually no wait times at places like the Vatican Museum, St. Peter's, or the Colosseum.

When my husband and I visited the Sistine Chapel years ago there were only 2 other visitors in there with us and we spent at least 30 minutes just laying on our backs on the floor looking up. There were no crowds anywhere, and it was an incredible day. To see the crowds now, I can't even imagine being able to take everything in. See how I dated myself there??

First time in Rome, after the Vatican I went looking for something to eat, got lost after 20 minutes walking, saw a restaurant with about 3-5 local eating the rest empty. Sat down, owner didn't speak English, I knew nothing. She brought out bread, a salad, show me how to do the olive oil and vinegar for the bread, and the salad had the sweetest tomato I've ever had then nor since. Out came the seafood spaghetti, best pasta I've every had, everything taste fresh, then came the meat/cheese platter, perfect way to end the meal. Cost $20 best dining experience I've had. Been back to Rome 5 times, each time tried to find that restaurant but still couldn't find it. I had more fancy and expensive meal in Rome that came close to that meal but none have yet to surpass it.

When my husband and I visited we were so hassled near the entrance with people offering tours. Just ignore them, buy the tickets at the ticket desk and go around at your own pace, visiting the galleries that interest you most (according to the written guide). We spent the whole day there. Well worth it.

Its easier for us fellow travellers. Hope you understand the point I'm making.

My college was too cheap to pay for a guide. Super religious private school. But we were able to get the headphone and mic set with my professor. When almost all of us were cutting out, guess what? Still was almost impossible to find a 5’5 man in the land of people there. I was the only Catholic on the trip as well somehow. I briefly got to see the Pope speaking (security was rushing us out) due to private mass. I brushed past the highest priests, nuns, ect on the shoulders because everyone found me to see something fancy to see. I couldn’t due to the service about to go on. My church Priest at home said that was an amazing experience for me in St Peters. He reblessed the beautiful rosary I got at the gift shop outside of it at my uncles funeral because I wasn’t sure if it was actually blessed by the Pope. He was in awe that I carry it with me everywhere (purse). Also, he had to go to Italy for his Priest duties and he was so inspired a young Catholic went alone and got to see more than him. 😊 Thank you guys for the video so I can reflect on the awesome time I had there!

funny story about my family at minute mark 5:27.. You see all of the columns?? Well, my family years ago were out touring and had finished up at the Vatican. We were standing around looking at a map trying to decide on where to eat.. My little brother goes: I HAVE TO PEE! And we look and go okay, we are trying to decide on lunch give us a minute.. Mind you my brother is maybe 3 or 4... After we decide we turn to the stroller where my brother is supposed to be and he's not there... HE'S AT ONE OF THE COLUMNS PEEING ON IT! The police were standing probably 300ft from us and we were so appalled and they didn't care one bit...
