Okay I dont agree with the ticket. I dont know what sticker you had on nor, do I know what the laws in Kentucky are, I do however agree that if you are driving in that state that you must abide by all rules, laws, and regulations. So as a lawyer I highly recommend to avoid shit like this that you call into the police station or look up the laws of the state the next time you decide to cross the state line.

You do not have to go to Kentucky. That's not what that means. All you have to do is call the clerks office of the county where you got that ticket, it shows the number on the back, and appeal for what is called a Change of Venue. What a change of venue means simply is when you get a ticket out of state that you appeal for you to be able to take care of it where you are from, and currently live. Think of it this way. If you live in CA, and you are traveling up the 5 freeway to Wyoming and you get pulled over in Washington, you aren't going to drive 1900 miles next week again for a Ticket! No you do a change of Venue and take care of it at a later date that you choose at the county nearest where you live. Word of advise and a little secret, is whenever a cop prints off a ticket, it always States 8am being the time of your court date. Call the court clerks office and request a later time in the evening, for instance a 4pm time. The cop will most likely be on shift. You can also cheat and call and ask if the cop will be on call that day doing patrol. Chances are it's a yes. If the cop doesnt show up to court, the case for the ticket is automatically DISMISSED. If you pick a later time that is more then likely going to happen. Because what cop wants to go to court after a long day of patrol.

Be careful! You can be cited in New Jersey for DWT. Driving while tired! And the penalties are almost as severe as Driving While Drunk. Most people are unaware of the law and that's why they get convicted. The cop will say "You were driving a little funny. I thought you might be drunk but you're probably just tired." The driver figures he's in the clear and might say something like "yeah, actually I am a little tired but definitely not drunk." Cop, "Haven't slept for a while, huh?" Driver, "nope, actually on my third night." Cop, "Step out of the car please. You're under arrest." That's right, it's not ticketable. It's an arrest!

My ex was stationed at Ft Campbell, and yeah, we got pulled over constantly in a 2004 Subaru STi. I got pulled over for speeding multiple times when I wasn't speeding. I had a cop tell me once that the car "looked like it was going faster" than it was. 🙄

What I said about laws are true... you could get a ticket for ice skating on the highway. If walking or hitch hicking is classed under that general rule... Also do you not know how traffic stops work? YOU are not allowed to infringe or interfere with investigating officers. Also when they pull you over... they run your records and check over your car to find anything out of the ordinary to make sure your not a con, or running anything illegal. So while being pulled over for speeding he has a right to write you up for anything under the sun. That maybe be illegal on your record or car whilst in his jurisdiction. And stopping on a highway is illegal country wide. So even if they are out of country visitors.. they still are required to know and follow local laws. --edit-- If the state you live in has legalized straight pipes and blue head lights and window tint..... but you drive to a neighboring state which DOES NOT (Illegal) ALLOW this they are going to give u a ticket for all of those things when pulled over. (Or they can choose to let you go.. 100% up to the officer on dutey)

Also not all offenses are categorized together, standing or walking on a limited toll road is illegal but here in ny its categorized under jay walking and or hitchhiking. I live in Tennessee, and usually on weekend nights we have meetups under the Korean Veterans bridge by Nissan Stadiun. Most metro cops in the nashville night shifts are more relaxed in the downtown area. You should visit Nashville more often! Sorry abiut your luck in KY....I've seen that acutal state trooper car many times going to Chicago, but never stopped by them. So awesome what you guys did with that Highway Patrol officer Savage ! He was a cool older officer and he was just so happy that you guys wanted him to be a part of your run and just to be welcomed so warmly by y’all even though he knows probably better than anyone how many times you guys have been hassled by police and didn’t hold any grudge or judgment over him. Honestly that made my day seeing how happy that man was with you guys and I hope that you guys invite him out again and get him in a car to drive or something.
