I lived in Hong Kong over 50 years ago. Our family leased a maybe 600 sq ft apt and had 3 bedroom, a small room, and a bunk bed which we rented to tenants. $20 for upper and $30 for lower. There were 4 families (2 family of 7 people total had a divider curtain in a bedroom. and three singles. We all shared a bathroom and each family had a small space for a kerosene stove. We had water ration and got water in the faucet 4 hours every other day. We all helped to fill water in tank and plastic containers. Every one took sponge bath. So this is a big step forward.
