@@christopherhamilton4373 If i remember right, he thought wedding or bride one or the other meant "Something to eat" so he agreed to having a "bride" or "Wedding". Fast forward 6ish years later Goku fought her in the tournament. Chi-Chi was there because she was mad that he never came back to fulfil his promise. Goku beats her without even touching her then after it is explained to him what a bride and marriage is he agrees to go through with it. Not because he loves her but because he did technically make the promise so as an honest soul he stuck to his word. In the following 5 years Gohan was born and Goku did develop a love for Chi-Chi but I would characterize it as more of a family love or the love one has for close friends rather than a romantic love as thats not really in his character.

​@@Cratossama Nah Kai is solid, the only reason people don't like it is because it's different from the 90s dub they grew up with. Most of the VAs sound really comfortable in roles as opposed to the old dub, the Namek saga was really rough in the og version since Funimation picked DBZ up from the middle after Ocean fell apart, it doesn't really get good until around half way through the Android saga and even then there are some really weird scripting choices with the monologues. The Saiyan saga is great though since they redubbed it after the fact

I still remember the days of Dragon Ball Z coming on Toonani that takes me back as a 90s kids. I still remember the show would come on just when I came home from school and after this show then Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakusho and Tenchi Muyo! Seeing Gohan as a 16 year old going to school was awesome especially during this time as the episodes of this arc was release in English Dub I was 14 going on 15 such great times 😁 If you want to see Goku meet Chi Chi for the first time watch the original Dragon Ball. Remember Zatch Bell, Cyborg 009, G Gundam, and Zoids on Toonami? I also remember having to wait for Adult Swim to watch Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Dot Hack Sign, Gundam Wing, and Rurouni Kenshin. Ghost in the Shell stand alone complex was another one that I watched a lot back then personally. Those were the days. Of course, DBZ, and Dragon Ball were what I was always looking forward to the most on television. The original Yu-Gi-Oh series eventually started to be shown on Cartoon Network as well. It was an awesome time before anime became widely publicized in the U.S. It's like we were discovering new treasures that eventually replaced cartoons for teenagers, and younger kids. Before Toonami, the only anime I knew about was Speed Racer, Transformers, and the original Gundam series. I also remember Toonami would show footage of new games that came out. That's how I found out about Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind, the Dot Hack games, and KOTOR.

I feel like the fact that you watch The abridged series first and the people said they wanted you to watch the Buu saga from original dragon Ball z after is a setup. But I guess as long as you don't do any dialogue quizzes or voice actor quizzes I'll be fine. The only big difference is it's a lot more serious than the abridged version.

Yeah, the Kai are a much better watch through for first timers than Z imo, and I'm a hardcore Z fan. Better dialogue with most of original cast, 30 less episodes of nonsense filler (even though some are funny at times, but most are a whatever) and more focuses on the storyline. Most of friends who never watch dbz wouldnt have cared to experience dbz if weren't for the Kais

Faulconer is good but the kikuchi score has a lot more personality and different tones for each situation than just the hard edgy rock that plays in the American one

may I request you watch it with the american soundtrack instead of the japanese one. The japanese soundtrack is better for Dragon Ball Z, but the Buu saga is an exception. The American soundtrack went far and beyond and was just too good in this arc. So many scenes are just perfect with it.

He’s blacked and the mom, Miguel - who died, was white. According to the daizenshuu date book. She was never shown in manga or anime
