@@GutenGardening Way better than expected, even the spring garlic that I planted bulbed up pretty decent.

Happy to see your great garlic harvest. Are you planning to buy bulbs again this fall to plant or will you use what you harvested?

Very nice. Only my second year doing it. I was also pleased with the hard neck. Softneck didn't do nearly as well. Maybe ill try again! Thanks for video

This harvest was so enjoyable for us. And, of course, it is so delicious!

Ours are nearly ready as well. I think I planted too close together because the necks don't look terribly large, so I'm figuring the bulbs aren't either. I'd like to know what you do with the green part too. I read below so far to use in broth so I definately will do that.

They look lovely. You may choose to use some of your nicest bulbs to plant those cloves this fall for next year's harvest. I love the hardneck. I get about 8-9 months storage in cool, dark, dry storage. I also pop some extra in a bottle of olive oil.

That's a great idea with the olive oil! We will definitely be saving some for planting this fall as well. We do have some nice bulbs, and I read that people get nearly 9 months of storage if done well, so that will be our goal (if it lasts that long). :D

I am really happy. We are going to play around with some new varieties next season, I think, but it was so wonderful to harvest and really to enjoy the entire garlic growing process.

@@GutenGardening once you succeed, it will become easier. I am about 3 months away to harvest my garlic. I am going to apply the tip of cutting the garlic leaves at around 8 inches. I would use those garlic leaves in stir fries, or maybe, when making stock. Freeze it till you are ready to make the stock. This will be my approach. The garden truly looks gorgeous. Have fun!

I actually just used some of the greens for that purpose with a few of our other veggies, and it was delicious. I will freeze the rest for sure. We make a good bit of soup too, so they will be a great addition there. Thank you so much Gert, and we hope all is well over there!

@@GutenGardening very well sir. Must admit, the garden this winter is sparce. Got overwhelmed with work last 5 months. 7 days a week, so I slacked and did not plant anything in time. So, my excuse is that I am letting the bed's "rest". Spring is around the corner, September, but can already start with potatoes. Also, happy to report I managed to successfully grow sweet potatoes in containers. It really made my day when I emptied the containers. Now, most difficult decision, team potato or team sweet potato? This season, it must be sweet potatoes. I managed to move a slip donor into the house as a house plant, and it is doing fantastic. Soooo easy to grow. I have 2 varieties, the normal red one, and a orange one. Sorry, have no idea what cultivar, but the orange one is very sweet, handsdown my favourite. Lucky for me, I was so busy in the workshop (lots of Fords for some reason), I must sheepishly admit that along with the garden, I neglected my Guten Gardeners. Silver lining, I have so many episodes to play catch up with!

Congratulations! I would love to have massive garlic like that! When I have a lot if garlic leaves I like to chop them up finely and add them to a mixture of oil, I use avocado oil, and room temperature butter in a 1 to 1 ratio. The oil and butter mixture is called "better butter" as it decreases the amount of bad fat and also makes the butter easily spreadable when still cold. Plus, adding the garlic greens adds flavor. Yum! Garlic bread anyone? 😁 I also make better butter and add chives, sage, thyme, rosemary, etc. Really, you could flavor it with any herbs. 😊
