My favorite walking bait rod - kickknocker, sammy, gunfish, etc. It’s also really fun with a swim jig. Your explanation of it not intended for heavy slop I learned the hard way. Based on the title I thought you might be introducing a fourth production model? Love all of my ALx rods but this one is my favorite. zolo crankbait rod is close second - so fun to fish with a small squarebill.

I love mine. I have 3 or 4 of them.

Thanks Alex. Would the OG Toadface be good for swim jigs down to a 1/4 oz?

@@craigpeters3165 the OG split grip Toadface is incredible with swim jigs for sure! Whether throwing one on fluorocarbon or braid

@@ALXrodsDo you think it would be better than the Deputy I'm currently using for swim jigs?
@ALXrodsАй бұрын
Certainly will have better backbone depending on the cover you're are fishing. Some folks have used a Deputy for Chatterbaits, because of how soft the tip is, it kinda reacts like a glass rod which is used for bladed jigs.

4.8 oz for the full handle. Wish it weren't so heavy. I'm assuming it balances nicely though. I love my ALX rods, but they're definitely on the heavier end. Kind of like Dobyns.
@ALXrodsАй бұрын
4.8oz for a full grip (dense cork) on a 7'6" rod is pretty aggressive. That may be the first time we've ever had someone describe our rods as heavy. 😁
@Twangtown7Ай бұрын
@@ALXrods I think you're confused. You don't have a full grip on your 7'6 model. Also, your 7'6 model doesn't say 4.8 oz on your site. Your 7'2 full grip does though. So clearly I'm talking about the 7'2/full grip model. And 4.8 oz is on the heavier side for a 7'2 MH rod in that price point. I'm comparing it to other rods I have. For example, my 7'3 XH Expride weighs 4.5 oz. A 7'2 H Zodias weighs 4.4 oz. Also, on your site it says the 7'6 model weighs less than the 7'2 model. Is that accurate?
@Twangtown7Ай бұрын
Medium-heavy tip? Isn't the MH the power and fast, moderate etc the tip?
@ALXrodsАй бұрын
As explained, the rod is a Medium Heavy + which equates to a MH with extra backbone. The top end of the rod will have power similar to a MH and the backbone is closer to a heavy power. Yes, it is still a fast action. As you know already, action is how the rod initially flexes.

Really like my ALX rods. I think they'd be even better if the grip was a tad thinner.

You always have the option to custom order any rod we produce with a different grip!

I wish the split-grip handle was a little thinner and not so bulbous.
@ALXrodsАй бұрын
Our grips are the same diameter (1.05") as the reel seat with a tapering end, so bulbous is a bit of an exaggeration as it is a streamlined design. We do agree that our grips are not very small like many rods on the market.
@Twangtown7Ай бұрын
@@ALXrods Where the grip meets the reel seat it's the same diameter, sure. But then as it goes down it definitely gets fatter. Just my opinion. I'm sure others like fatter grips. Not bashing it or anything, just saying for myself. I have 6 ALX rods, so clearly it isn't a deal-breaker for me. ;)
