I think you should have spent more time in Kandy. You missed the botanical garden in Peradeniya. Getting a ticket in 2nd or 1st class in this train is almost impossible, definitely have to reserve at least two weeks in advance. Travelling on 3rd class is always a nightmare because it can be insanely overcrowded specially on the weekends. There is A/C on 1st class but the best place to be is 2nd class, there you can open the doors and windows and less crowded compare to 3rd class. That’s the best way to enjoy the journey. Anyway great video. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

@@theflyingfinneys Did you get on the Colombo- Kandy train before it went to Kandy? Normally most people get off in Kandy and seats should open up in Kandy- next station. Looks like you got on the train after train left Kandy in the reverse direction to Ella in which case seats will already be full from Kandy.

@@theflyingfinneys oh no. I would try getting on earlier than Peradeniya. Just google the railway map of Sri Lanka or there are always seats if you do the reverse journey from Ella to Kandy. Worse case, get on the train from Colombo to Badulla but you will be in for a long day. Railway timetable can also be found online as well.

You certainly have some interesting time with forms of transport! Four and a half hours is quite the marathon of standing, I remember doing 2 and a half in Europe during the summer peak season years ago, that was bad enough!
