I don't believe you've ever indicated who manufactures the water maker, but I would think it should be under some kind of warranty, by the manufacturer, or SeaWind who installed it. From what was shown, it definitely was shoddy to say the least, and leaves in question the quality of the brand.
@jazzfan75826 ай бұрын
It's a Spectra Newport 400 (@3:29). I agree, the manufacturer should have stepped up. Given the location, logistics wise, support may have been very difficult.
@rwhunt996 ай бұрын
@@jazzfan7582 Good to know, I wasn't sure if it was a manufacturing failure (I think it was that section that was supplied, that had the jimmied elbow, or someone installing that messed up.
@tm5020106 ай бұрын
This is one of those things that really should be chased down - by the manufacturer, or the boat builder. *SOMEONE REALLY MESSED UP* and caused a grievous amount of inconvenience, ill will, and discontent. It could have been an even bigger deal if they had been far offshore, without water or water making capabilities. Failures happen - it’s life - but this was not failure. It was carelessness.

Here’s a question (questions) that perhaps only a non-sailor might ask but here goes. I notice more of the newer boats on some reaction vids have black sails. Is that on purpose so as to reflect less light or is it purely for aesthetics. And won’t they draw more heat?
@stargazer76446 ай бұрын
I think it's for looks. Who cares if the sails get hot? They're outside and they still make shade :)
@leonardizsak66616 ай бұрын
Depending on the material used, you can choose the color.
@andersonautomotive6 ай бұрын
Black sails are due to the materials used. The dark colored materials like carbon, Kevlar, etc give you sails that are lighter weight and hold their shape better than white Dacron sails, but tend to not last as long. Some of the newer materials such as Hydranet are more of a grey color and have excellent retention of the sail shape and longevity approaching dacron. I believe Ruby Rose has Hydranet sail cloth.

I totally understand why you would ship Ruby Rose to the med.......I'm curious to know what it would cost to sail across the Indian ocean and then around Africa and up the west coast, my guess is it would take 4 or 5 months, and it would winter in South Africa, weather probably a horror show, and by the time you arrived in the med it would be season would be long gone

Do you really expect them to sail through the Gulf of Aden, the Red Sea and the Suez in today's environment. Piracy and a war zone! Or perhaps you think they should sail the other/long way around Africa or the World. They have been in Asia for quite a while. If their plans and life dictate that they spend some time in Europe, what is so wrong with shipping the boat? Please save your negative comments for something legitimately negative. Nick and T - I love the channel and appreciate the chance to share a little in your great lifestyle!
@pierred71836 ай бұрын
@@justsmy5677 I understand my comment might appear negative for some. When you have a great boat, you use it and change your course when facing geopolitical problems. Indian ocean and South african is great, especially on a big cat. If your goal is to sail in mediterrannee and atlantic islands, and you don't want to sail via South Africa, may'be you could buy a cat in Europe, they are lot of boat manufacturers there. Buying such a big boat and shipping it on cargo because you don't like sailing, allow me to be shocked. What's the point?
@geniexmay5626 ай бұрын
Don't give them grief for not having the skills to get the best out of their cat at the moment. Remember how happy they were cruising the French canals! Each to their own. I love ocean passages!! I also love cycling and camping French canals and rivers!!
@williambremner90226 ай бұрын
@@pierred7183 I agree 100%! And add to it all that they are not availing themselves to the incredible cruising in Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and elsewhere on the western side of Thailand all of which are so readily accessible from Jomtien/OMYC. Why buy/build a cat in Vietnam if you're not going to avail yourselves to the incredible cruising grounds of SE Asia!? What a wasted opportunity! True bluewater cruisers would leap at the opportunity to explore SE Asia on that beautiful boat. I just don't think they have the bottle for it. Go on, back to the Med/Europe where it's comfortable I guess. Whatever...I've lost interest and to be brutally honest, I've had enough of Capt Whinge. Stuff breaks all the time on every single yacht in the world and owners simply deal with it, fix it and get going again. I'm hauling our boat out in a week to fix all kinds of stuff - situation normal. But as core content for a sailing channel...yawn, nah. Get over it guys! Best of luck in the Med.
