Well shoot!! 😢 First of all, glad your mom is doing well, glad that the little one is adapting so well and enjoying life as a “normal” kid! Simon, I’m sorry for you because I can tell this is taring you apart because of the love you have to Britican and to sailing and the lifestyle it provides. On the other hand I know family comes first!! Hopefully there will be a Britican II once the little one goes to college!! Too bad we never meat up in the high seas or in the middle of the Caribbean!! It will be sad not to have more future videos to look forward to watching, but life goes on!! I might cross the Atlantic next year so I might be looking for crew to tag along! 😊 Best wishes!! Andy

Hi Guys, I will never forget the offer you gave me to come all the way from Melbourne Australia to stay with you for about a week or so. I was a delight and I was honoured to be invited. I remember what Kim said to you in the cockpit one lovely evening at anchor. It was Simon I never want to give this lives up. But as you say you are not giving up on the yachting. All the very best and how’s the captains and first mate uniforms going. P.S as of tomorrow I will starting up a new business being a booking agent for charter boats in Melbourne. Maybe you can do the same where you are.

Sorry to hear that, but these are the decisions we make to ensure our kids have a good life. I turned down several higher paying job offers to give my girl stability with 1 school and group of friends. It was only for a few years and didn't set my career back at all. I presume you've worked the angles and determined it's not viable to base Britican on the east coast of NC and run your Britican experiences out of there for a few years. Up & down the east coast, Chesapeake, occasional passage to Bermuda. You'd still have summers when Sienna's out of school for extended cruising. Similarly, you could do like so many part-time cruisers do, keep the boat parked down in the islands and fly to it. You could still run a scaled back Britican experience schedule, and wouldn't be away any more than Simon hiring out as a Captain. There's also the long-term financial asset value of holding Britican rather than selling and trying to find something like her in a few years. If your friend can offer his Lagoon for part-time charter to select people when he's not there, why couldn't you do that with Britican?
@Sailingbritican
@Sailingbritican Жыл бұрын
Yes...we've discussed all these things and I appreciate you offering the suggestions. The costs associated far outweigh the income we can generate. The best we can do is break even and breaking our backs in the process. By Simon being a captain for hire or borrowing another boat to do the experiences we can make an actual profit. Every bit of money we've made has gone back into the boat. Now that we have other priorites we need a different solution. But who knows what's in store for us? With the decision we've made it feels right so each day we'll keep taking a step forward and see where that leads. Smiles, Kim

@@Sailingbritican I was sure this wasn't a decision made lightly, and there's definitely something to be said for reducing overhead to get to "High speed, low drag". It's good to see Sienna has adapted well to the change in lifestyle. But will mom & dad? We'll all be tuned in.
