Therein lies the difference between being basic repairmen and artisan craftsmen. I am now 74 and my father taught me to work with leather when I was 12. Though I am certainly not a cobbler, I understand some of the intricacies of your craft. The first video with these John Lobb shoes was excellent. But this video demonstrates that your skills have sharpened while giving us a much better picture of the high level of those skills. Hats off to you gents for you are truly some of the best there is. BTW, since subscribing to your channel, I have found many pairs of high quality shoes at thrifts shops which I refurbished for both myself and others using skills gathered from your channel. Thank you and please continue with the great content.

The craftsmanship that went into this restoration is top notch and so respectful of the brand. I went back to watch the original video for these shoes and discovered that the owner had them re-soled to pass on to his son. I feel better knowing a different person is responsible for such poor treatment of these shoes since the first restoration. Quality work guys!

Look, fellas, it's not bad business to tell a customer that the thing they want repaired just isn't worth it. On the contrary, it's why we seek the advice of professionals. My mechanic is the one who tells me when my car isn't worth fixing, my watchmaker tells me when a watch isn't worth repairing, my dentist tells me when a tooth needs to be pulled, my arborist tells me when a well-loved tree is unsafe to leave standing. Your customer needs more than one pair of shoes and to take care of both pairs. It's okay to deliver that message. I'm surprised that you didn't just make the man 2 new pairs, frankly... or just pointed him to John Lobb to shop for what he wants. These are the "shoes of Theseus", for sure. It's fun to see you guys work, though, and thank you for the great episode as usual. Always a pleasure... but sometimes I think you go a bit too far for the clicks. Take care.
