Acuron is a restricted-use pesticide. Please read and follow label instructions.
aTrippyFarmer and the crew are back to bring you more farming adventures! In this episode, Andy talks about a powerful herbicide platform-Acuron By Syngenta. The farm has made use of this herbicide for nearly a decade with great success. It’s worth checking out! Thanks for watching!
Andy "aTrippyFarmer" Dole is a 6th generation farmer from Central Illinois. On this farm, Andy works alongside his father, Marty, his uncles, Chris and Jeff, and his sister, Katie, to grow corn and soybeans on some of the finest dirt in the world. Andy and his family are deeply rooted in the area, operating a large farm that traces it origins back into the 1800s. Although some tracts did not stand the test of time, Andy and his family still grow corn and soybeans on fields that have been in the family for longer than even the oldest members of the farm have been alive. We do, we have, and we always will take tremendous pride in calling this piece of paradise our home. Andy was a Bronze Tablet graduate of the University of Illinois in the field of Crop Sciences, following the same path as his father and late grandfather.
It would be misleading for Andy to claim that this life is one that came by chance; rather, as a member of two multi-generational farm families, it was simply in his blood. His passion for agriculture traces back to his early youth--some of his fondest, earliest memories being of days spent riding in the combine with his father and grandfather. Although his understanding of the lifestyle was much less complex in the beginning, the love he has for farming, and its industry has only appreciated through time. As this dream blossomed into adulthood, Andy now works relentlessly, and tirelessly, to chase his own dreams and to build a farming operation of his own alongside his family.
We, as a whole operation, are handymen, electricians, mechanics, landscapers, accountants, economists, caretakers, stewards, and, most importantly, farmers, and we take an incredible amount of pride in our work. There is no challenge too overwhelming, no situation too stressful, and no problem too difficult for us to take on, and we want to take you along with us. Welcome to our farm and welcome to our lives. You have the best seat in the house to watch the everyday chaos of farming unfold--we usually only get concerned when things aren't going wrong!

Quick question. When does it finally become cost effective to have the dealer 'fix' that left end boom connection? If time is money, and you're very good at keeping track of efficiency, how much have you spent dealing with that problem? Yeah, yeah, nagging you just like your dad. Appreciate you sharing your humanity and willingness to share with another farmer thinking about getting into custom spraying. Take Care. Thank-you

We use halex with Aattrex ourselves from Syngenta. One pass with it for us. Then maybe a bit of touchup with roundup on very little acres where needed
@aTrippyFarmer
@aTrippyFarmer Жыл бұрын
There are a lot of people that run Halex. It has been a great product, and it was priced very well. I do think that Acuron GT is going to be a better product because of the added Bicyclopyrone, but you are going to pay a premium for it!

If you decide to change the axle yourself, it will take you longer to swap the rims than the axle, Just put tall Jack stands under the rear bar and use translift to lift the axle. When you get the hub bolts off stand the sets on end it's way easier to line them up. Be safe.

Back in 2013 I became a custom applicator. We started with Lexar as our main pre-emerge and the first full year Acuron came out we switched many operators over. The first season Acuron was released a little late and most only came out in shuttles, Thus that next "first" season we had to make sure tanks got agitated and circulated with air per instruction. Customer opinion was 50/50, however the following year it showed how good it was. The supervisors at my location were also selling a cheaper generic package of chemicals and you could tell exactly which option a guy chose for pre at post time. I still tell all my guys to use Acuron if they can get ahold of it.
@aTrippyFarmer
@aTrippyFarmer Жыл бұрын
Acuron isn't hard to get here, but it will cost you a lot more than a generic program. You can get a lot down with generics, but you need to be more vigilant with your scouting. Callisto dropping in price has made almost every herbicide program seem expensive...

You Americans have it easy with trowing glyphosate at every crop, cuz it's gmo. While in the Eu, we barely have useful stuff, but I don't know how long.

Glyphosate is convenient for controlling grass in corn. Other than that, it is pretty ineffective.

I saw a John Deere planter with bigger problems than yours today. Two miles south from my place I saw a planter & tractor sitting in the field & it didn't look right. They had a fertilizer cart behind the planter & the cart & planter had sunk to the frame in the mud. The one wing of the planter had twisted 90 degrees & the row units were vertical instead of horizontal. The other wing tipped up about 45 degrees with the marker up in the air. I drove by this evening & they had unhooked the cart & pulled the planter out. The wing that was twisted 90 degrees had been removed & was gone from the field. It looked like the other one was folded up. I wonder how much that is going to cost to fix. I can't imagine being the guy driving that rig when this happened.
