Glad y'all back so soon. While you're on the Sunshine Coast, head just inland and drive along the Blackall Range for amazing views of the coast and check out Montville, Maleny, Mapleton, Flaxton, all along the ridge ... uber cool and a unique Aussie experience ... and Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, it's huge.

If you find something on a beach, and you're unsure what it is, leave it alone. Don't touch it. Don't poke at it. Just avoid it. It might be poisonous/venomous, or it might not be. That's one lesson you don't want to learn the hard way. As for the "Casino" mentioned in the video, that was a Gaming Room, or more commonly referred to as a Pokie Lounge. It's definitely not a Casino.

It's pronounced 'br-eye-bee'. You're all doing great. Fished Red Beach many times in my early dating period ie girl, interested in fishing, often secluded beach. Caught all the bread and butter species and sometimes a good feed of sand crabs, that would just wander by. Catching them was another adventure.

The north of Australia is more about the rainforest and going out to the reef for snorkelling and diving on the reefs. I love a tropical holiday there with butterflies and amazing fruits. If you’re looking for surf and sand, best to come further down. I live on Kangaroo Island in South Australia, you guys should definitely come here, late summer is best .. the beaches are sugary white and crystal clear (surfing can be on or off though) . Welcome back to Oz.

Bribie island is basically a retiree fish boating island. All the beaches north on the Sunshine coast are better. Caloundra, Coolum, Point Arkwright (Very nice popular view point), Mooloolaba, Sunshine beach (steps give an amazing view back down all the beaches), Noosa is another part altogether...Lots of options tbh all one after the other along the coastal roads. Enjoy.

You'll be driving north into the tropical wet season (would have been better to do the north in winter, but anyhoo). Factor in extra time for driving in case of flash flooding, and tell local authorities if you're going off the beaten track so they can send help if needed. Better safe than sorry! No surf north of Hervey Bay because of the Great Barrier Reef & you can't swim in open waters from Nov-May because of marine stingers, but there are plenty of reef tours that the kids will love. Cairns and Townsville beaches also have enclosure nets to keep the kids safe from stingers while they paddle in the warm water. You'll also need plenty of bug spray and sunscreen, but you probably already know that 😊

Another great video! I forgot to mention about the Irukandji jellyfish up north. If you haven't heard of them, have a look on the internet about them. In many places up north, it's recommended that you either swim in a stinger enclosure or wear a stinger suit. They are invisible, being transparent and only about 1cm in size, and they have killed people before.

Pretty much all beaches north of Hervey Bay you need to wear a stinger suit to prevent irukanji jellyfish. There have been recorded cases on Fraser Island especially during the hotter months. Crocs at the beach start from about Airlie Beach so there will be signs. Proserpine River is supposedly one of the most populated rivers in Queensland for crocs.

Hi guys 👋 I worked on prawn trawlers off the east coast of Queensland for about 8 years from Mooloolaba to north of the Cape closer to Indo and PNG either tigers, kingys, bananas and endeavours plenty of bugs to largest ones from my fingertips to close to my elbow that was at Princess Charlotte Bay north of Cooktown, I think that first one was what we call a sea cucumber ( very small one lol) theres actually a large black market for them and a legal industry up north all goes to asia the islanders normally get the quotas they used to go for a couple of hundred dollars a kilo not sure what they go for these days second one might of been a cuttlefish we use to keep that and squid to sell as bait you only used to get about eight dollars a kilo for that but it all adds up and it's better then chucking it out, I'm not sure if you know but after you process the cuttlefish you get the main calcium like part of its structure out and thats what pet birds eat you also find them washed up on the beach keep an eye out for them. I grew up for the first 7 years of my life in a quaint little coastal town near Rockhampton called Emu Park no surf but beautiful spot when your a kid. Love you guys glad your back!🌞🇺🇲🏄🇭🇲♥️ 🙏 Sorry about the short novel.🙂 🤜🤛

The Sunshine Coast will probably be your last chance to surf unless Agnes Waters is firing. The Great Barrier reef tends to protect the coast from big swells and beaches up north are usually more broken up coral pieces rather than fine white sand. Whitehaven Beach is the exception.

Australia has some 30,000 beaches on the mainland (excluding Tasmania) - so I hope you find some great ones! People are friendly and food is excellent. The Sun can really burn if you are not used to it - and any warning signs on well patrolled beaches - stingers, snakes, sharks, crocodiles or dangerous currents are very rare and absolutely NOT DECORATIVE. Heed any warning that says do not swim here and you will be perfectly safe. Near major population centres beaches should be completely safe if you use common sense and are water wise. If you are in a extremely remote beaches check with any locals before you head in the water. In over 60 years I have never encountered anything dangerous - but I know not to swim where there are bull shark or great whites or crocs... Generally I wouldn't pick up any sea creatures - shell fish, pretty little blue ringed octpus in rock pools or swim during sea wasp or uraki season - those things will ruin your day if they don't end you!

The creature with the purple dye is probably a violet sea snail. It has thin, paper-like, purple shell, a snout, and violet or black flesh. They use mucus bubbles to stay afloat on the ocean surface and eat creatures like blue bottles. The dye can be extracted like the dye 'purple' extracted from Murex snails in ancient times. They are born male but develop into a female over time. Trivia: There is a rare condition in humans, found in higher numbers (about 1%) in Salinas in the Dominican Republic, where some have female characteristics until puberty, when they apparently change into males. The cause appears to be a missing enzyme normally responsible for early differentiation, so that they only develop male characteristics when triggered by puberty.
