This happened to my parents recently. The builder ran off to Australia with thousands of my parents money. They couldn’t afford to sue and couldn’t actually locate him to take any legal action. We didn’t have a kitchen or a back room for 3 years. Winter was extremely freezing and the house was unsafe, we were so worried about break ins. This will be the first year we have a kitchen for Christmas in 4 years and our house is still under renovation:( the kitchen is not completed and the back of the house still has walls ripped out. But hey at least we have a working kitchen and a back door finally!

For the open space plan, could you do a sort of mezzanine as the play area for the child and toys? That will double the space and you can keep the adult stuff separate from the playing area. The mezzanine should be able to be dismounted in the future once they grow. Methinks 😊

I know how you feel ! When we were renovating our home bc it was time, we ordered our windows stateside bc I was very picky about the frame work. I wanted so refined white French window style & white shutters for protection from typhoon weather that goes with living in the Pacific region. We gave a deposit to start the order & it will be delivered in two months. It took 6-months to wait & they kept giving us the round around. I was tired of the boards closing the open windows from rain & hot weather living in those conditions. So we had to go local which I didn’t quite liked & was not define as stateside windows, ugh ! 😬 but after all the windows withstood typhoon winds & rain when it came … 💨💨💨💦🌊🌊🌊🏝️

Hi Kate and Joey, I love your content and how much joy you bring to people redecorating their homes! An idea for the window: you could try putting a shelf or something there and make it a mini windowsill-like two way shelf, or another idea i had is you could put a table top or bar counter with barstools and have a mini little bar area to eat breakfast in the mornings, and it would look like you are looking through a window into the rest of the house ( even though there is unfortunately no window there😢 ). i’ve seen this on a tiktok before and i thought it could look cute. I’m excited to see what you guys come up with to figure this problem out and i’m sorry you guys had this inconvenience with the window :( love you both!

Oh, man... 🙄 Maybe you can cut a piece of glass about an inch smaller than the hole, put it in a frame that fits the hole and then build two frames that would keep the framed glass in place (one on the front and one on the back of the framed glass)...?
